You are all so right, it started with an abusive relationship and she kept hoping things will change after having her first baby. Relationship was in term oil all the time. She only changed her mind after he put her baby daughter in washing machine.

I have told her not to give him that copies of passports, but she fears the worst.

Que? And he still has access?

There was a court case but this matter was not brought up. Social services took note of this according to that he will not be allowed custody.
Children when they look at other children fathers, they asked questions. And because he lived in the vicinity, mother allowed children to see their father.
He has been up to his old tricks now, showering children with gifts and sweets. Mother tries to control the situation but it is very difficult.

Just tell her to be sensible and not give him the passports.

He needs the passport numbers for a online check in or a visa clearance...
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

The passports only last 5 years don't they?

They may do but If he wanted to abduct them abroad it only take 4 hours to to far Europe. Would you take that chance with your kids? Ive never heard of anyone needing passports for housing. Only thing I know of is to take them out of the country. And what ever goes on with stereotypes, and he said she said, and hating someone because your friend does. may be wrong. But the fact is when it comes to your kids you don't mess around. And if you knows what this person is like and feels their safety is in question she should not hand over there passports.
it might not be much, but its better than a kick in the teeth:rotfl:

I would take the passports, the kids and myself and get the hell away from where she lives now, (if possible) for the sake of the kids.

Does this man have access to her property, does she let him in to see the kids, because if she does, then I would be giving my mother the passports, just incase he decided to do a bit of searching.

If she wants to be a bit less confrontational than just refusing, she could ask which estate agent and say she'll provide copies direct to them. That way he doesn't get a copy and she can check they're actually needed - I can't imagine why they would be though!

Edit: You could mark the copies something like 'For estate agent use only'. Not sure if it would help, but it might hinder misuse..

The only reason he would need the passports is to take them out of the country.

I can't imagine why an estate agent would need them. If for some reason the estate agents need proof of the children's existence (can't think why) there are other methods.

Don't even give out copies as an unscrupulous person could possibly obtain replacements by saying they were lost.

I'd guess a less dramatic reason than fleeing the country (after all you need a real passport for that).

Might be something like applying for children's financial products using their names.

Yes there is a risk if he takes children out of the country. If he does, it will not be for any love or passion for them, it will be to make life hell for his ex for rejecting him.
I do mean this, I can imagine him making phone calls with children crying in the background.
If you see him you cannot believe the character he has.
