I have a kenwood chef, I know that they are much more expensive than £100 when bought new but they are available second hand from the likes of Ebay for well under £100.

My Mums Kenwood is 40 years old now and it still runs perfectly regularly making dough, creaming potatoes, doing cake mixes, cookie dough etc.

Well worth thinking about if you haven't already as very little goes wrong with them and they are very well built.

  • for my birthday I was given the Andrew James Stand mixer (currently £79.00 on amazon)

It works great for me- my only niggle is that it is quite loud compared to more expensive ones that my friends have. This usually is ok but when making things like marshmallow icing which takes a long time to mix I've taken to moving out into the spare room as the noise can get very annoying.

I've used it several times a week since January for cakes, breads etc and have not had any other problems.

however It was my first stand mixer so don't have much experience with other ones.
