O2 no more 0845 - even old contracts?

Posted on hotdealsuk - O2 are going to start charging everyone for 08xx calls not just new contracts from 1st July or 1st September. Can anyone confirm?
Renewed my contract 2 days ago and been asking the retentions twice about 0870/0845 numbers, and they keep telling me since they are giving me old plan then it will be definitely free.0 -

can anyone clarify this?
All new retail (normal resellers like mobileshop, etc) and online (via O2 direct via phone or online) contracts right now no longer have 08XX calls taken from inclusive minutes.
From 1st August at the latest (she originally said 1st July, best to assume July) all current contract customers will no longer have 08XX numbers free (except O2 CS calls) and 0870/0844/0845 will be charged with letters going out giving the 30days notice, excuse was it was never really free but on some kind of promotion.
Sorry, considering past instances of things like this I should of mentioned, it REALLY helps if you used these numbers in the past as it proves a detrimental change to your contract usage.
Although really it is a change of T&C within the contractual period nonetheless, what you can blag however is what the forums are for however and hopefully people will provide useful information.

Let's see if any notice arrives in the post.0

if true, this is just awful
it's the only reason i'm with o2
i'll be def cancelling if they push this thru0 -
I've said this before, but O2 don't appear to realise that they will lose so much business over this and it will cost them far more than the money they will save by not having to pay oyt of 08xx usage. My 12 months are up on both of my O2 contracts over the next couple of months and when I give them my 30 days termination notice I am going to make sure that I let them know that it was entirely due to the loss of 08xx numbers from inclusive minutes(not true actually as I was going to cancel anyway to get another cashback contract but it won't be guaranteed to be O2 again like it would have been if the had left 08xx numbers in). I hope everyone who cancels due to this also informs O2 why they are doing so.0

I think that they are trying to trick people into changing their tariffs.
I just called to renew my '02 treats'(2211), this has always been an automated process.
This is no longer available, and I was told to phone 02 to change my tariff so that I can apply my free texts/minutes.
Am I reading more into this than I should be?Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -

I phoned only last night to update our treats and had no problems with the automated process (though the treats themselves were a bit ropey).0
