Flight TCX1035 17 hr delay

My first time posting on here so please bear with me.

My partner, myself and my 3 year old son went on holiday to Lanzarote and were scheduled to return on 4th July 2013, when we arrived at Lanzarote airport it already showed our flight delayed from 21.00 until 23.30, they gave us 4 Euros each, which just about covered a meal and drink for my 3 year old son. As we sat there and waited we watched the time of delay change to 00.55. At midnight they asked us to wait at the gate, I stayed back as my son was asleep and therefore no rush to board the flight. I was second to last in the queue to board the aircraft when the security guy told us at 00.55 we were going nowhere as Air Traffic Control shuts at 1am, we were then told to turn around and get out of airport to waiting coaches to go to a hotel for the night, TC rep came on the coach and told us the captain refused to fly as he was tired, 1st lie! so we sked for our luggage only to be told that it went to Glasgow some 5 hours previous. Anyway long story short we took off at 14.30 the following day, no luggage for a further 4 days and I have written to TC for compensation only to be told that my flight was not delayed for the qualify period!!! basically oh well hope you had a good holiday anyway. CAA tell me can't complain as flight originated in Lanzarote not England.... what arte my options now? can anyone please advise...

Sorry it was long story..:)

    It's a story similar to hundreds of others, so my sympathies.
    Everything you need to do is in the FAQ's. You'll have to set aside a couple of hours to read through it all and do some leg work yourself. But it's clear cut from what you say.
    Briefly;
    1) Commence claim
    2) issue NBA
    3) issue court proceedings

    or instruct NWNF firm
