Purchase new mobile contract in June with Three UK. Handset Nokia Lumia 920.

6 weeks after the handset kept freezing, contact customer services and told to hard reset, did no resolve. Told that i need to send back upto 28 days for repair. (need working mobile as son seriously ill. explained i felt to long is there other options) Directed to three store. They would give me a temp phone. great so offe £62 i went. No temp phones in stock try again. (30 mile round trip)
Went back again today told no spare handset. Not happy now......
Customer services contacted while in store: Made following offer
replace handset with recon. Reduce 24 month warranty and charge me £62 delivery.
so for a phone that was 6 weeks old and faulty undamaged (Checked by shop) three attempts at resolve 60 miles. To be told they feel a recon phone with a reduced warranty is only option.

HELPPPPPPPPPPPP

Reason I need the phone, my son is seriously ill in hospital all the agencies have this number. Stuck between rock and hard place and feel ripped off. Now have email saying they unable to resolve complaint.

Your phone number is on the SIM not the handset. A cheap PAYG 3 handset will get you up and running instantly. They are not required to supply a backup handset as it is a goodwill gesture only, however it would make sense to check they had kept one for you until you got there.

Bear in mind though that the 920 uses a micro sim, its unlikely cheap phones will use this so they would need an adapter or get a new full sized sim from 3 and transfer it across, inconvenient when they get the 920 sorted and need to get another micro sim and then transfer back to this.

A friend had a nightmare with getting a phone repaired through 3. he gave up and contacted the manufacturer direct. Strictly it is 3's problem to sort you out, but going direct to Nokia might be better/easier/quicker http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/support/care-point/

The 3store should have free sim adapters, even if they didn't they only cost 99p.

Agreed and I'm sure they do, I was just clarifying that it wasn't quite as simple as buying a cheap phone and putting the existing sim in, there would be an extra step involved.
