Wii remote hit the tv screen - More than contents insurance

Hi I'm looking for some advice ... basically while playing golf on the wii the strap broke and the remote hit my Samsung LED tv on the right hand side! The panel hasn't cracked or anything but the right hand side of the screen has blue lines all over the place.
I have the standard More Than contents insurance with accidental cover. The excess is £100 whereas the cost to repair the tv myself will be much more. Will More Than accept my claim and will they repair or replace my tv as the panel is the most expensive part on the tv?
Thanks

Why don't you ring the insurance company?0

maybe because if she does then the incident will be recorded even if it's not covered.
Once the incident is recorded then it needs to be disclosed for the next 3/5 years and is likely to result in a premium loading0 -
Vaio is right, I don't want to risk that0

A repair will be the first thing they attempt so I would suggest you investigate the cost of repair first.
Any loss of NCB and payment of the excess may mean its not worth claiming and as Vaio says, you don't want an incident recorded if you're not going to claim.0 -
I seem to remember a few insurers have the exact situation as an exclusion after all the claims they got hit for when the Wii came out0

It most likely will be covered - any link to your policy so I could take a look at the specific wording? Most policies cover accidental damage to TV's as standard (don't require the additional 'Accidental Damage' cover). I don't think I've heard of heard of any Wii damage exclusion - not sure how they would enforce such a thing (TV's hit by games console controllers?)
Many insurers now just replace TV's as it is not economical for them to collect them from you and they're generally too expensive to repair. If you're really not sure then take it to a TV store first of all to see if they can repair it (may cost £20-30 for an inspection). Then, if it is repairable you will know the costs and can decide if this is worthwhile. If it's not repairable then look at the cost of similar TV's and again consider whether the costs of those is worth claiming for.0 -
Is it not possible to call them enquiring about insurance & say something like your friend/relative took out insurance with another company who wouldn't pay out on [insert your own accident here] & you wondered what their stance was on that & similar exclusions?
Then it wouldn't record anything against you?0 -
Do they have any exclusions on the policy? I made a claim for a tv nearly 2 years ago, amongst the questions asked were; was it being carried upstairs and was it hit with a games controller.0

I suggest investing in one of the rubber covers you can get for the remotes, makes them much more grippy. Ours came with one by default but we bought the Wii quite lateMortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,0000 -
If they do pay out you could be paying more than the claim in premiums for the next few years as you'll have to declare it, can be a lot of money extra0
