Hi
Just lost the last post..weird!
Anyway..just popping in to say hi and well done on starting on the DF journey! You're making great progress all ready, it's brilliant.
Do keep on posting, it's great for the support and we certainly also know how to ( virtually!) celebrate the successes that we all have!
Have a good break with your family

Hello Littlemiss,
Good luck,
However a very, very small point, your post no.8.
You saved a pound..... Well you actually spent £1.50.
Trying not to be picky but one coffee at £1.50 per weeks is £78 and two a week is £156. All perfectly OK if you have no debt.
Just saying. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

It's hard to cut everything out when you first start this journey, at least she's made a change to how much she spends. I think if you try and cut everything at once you're more likely to fail. Once the rest of the cuts have become second nature this coffee expense will start to be noticed I'm sure
I've always wished there would be somewhere you could go and sit and be warm yet not spend any money and take coffee with you - these places are few and far between. If being in Starbucks is motivating then the £1.50 on a hot drink is worth it I think.
Good luck Littlemiss - the start of the DFW journey is very exciting so try and keep up the momentum!0 -

If you get a Mywaitr0se card, you can get a free coffee every day - if there is one near you then sorted

Totally respect your point, but to me it is making a small difference. I am budgeting myself £50 per week for food, petrol and socialising and it's nice to get out of the house and have a hot drink in a different environment, plus you get free refills. I spend about 2-3 hours in there so it's not just a flying visit or a takeaway coffee. To me it's a small price to pay for a change of environment and a bit of socialising.
Lillian1977 - thank you for your support, I have made major changes in my general spending - the £50 budget, switching to budget brands, not eating out as often, not even going out with my friends as much as before, so I appreciate your words. You are right too, that once I get used to the other sacrifices I will no doubt start looking at other expenditures and see where I can save.
I actually have a pay increase in September and have already decided to stick to my £50 budget and keep the difference in my account to pay off my debt earlier.
So, my week in Devon so far has gone well, my lovely mum has treated me quite a lot this week so I haven't had to spend much (will total up when I get back, not using my card, only the money in my wallet)
We have eaten at hers every evening and we bought out own cereal to eat so we saved that way too. We've met up with lots of friends at 'free events' and gone for walks rather than the favoured lunch or coffee out where I end up paying for parking somewhere plus spend a small fortune on food. I have no idea exactly how much I have spent, but I know it's a hell of a lot less than usual!!!
Ellesbelles - that would be fab, but there isnt one that close
rubbish!!!
Right, I have a surprise baby shower to organise - wish me luck!!!

Hello all!
I am a happy girl! I managed to stick to my £100 budget for the time I was down there (including petrol which was £40 - my gorgeous other half paid the other half) for that I managed:
1. A baby shower party (I contributed to the buffet and made it all!)
2. A night out
3 2 day trips (mum paid for one the other was a walk around the moors so free!)
4. A night out
5. Chinese takeaway!
Feeling really chuffed as I easily used to spend £250+ when I went down. I didn't use my card once either - so no surprises when I look at my bank statement!!!
The best part is the £100 I'd saved up from tutoring so I see that as a bonus on top of my wages, so I'm not in my overdraft.
I know some people may read this and think she shouldn't have spent £100 when she has that much debt, but to see my family and friends I need to travel 250 miles...I'm also determined to still have a life whilst I do this and not feel depressed about it I suffered from depression for the past three years, tablets for the last year and will not go down that path again after coming off it and being depression free for the past 6 months. I swear it was depression that got me in that state in the first place!
Anyway bargains since my last post:
1. The pump had gone funny on my foundation (Dior - Ipobvious why I'm in debt!!!) so I went to a department store and the replaced it in full with a brand new one (it was 3/4 empty so I did dam well to gt a FULL free bottle!!!)
2. The Works is my new best friend for Christmas presents. 5 books for £4. That plus a bag of 50p haribo is the presents sorted for my friends children!
3. Turned my Tesco vouchers into cinema tickets - woohoo!! 3 trips for 2 people for free
boom!!
In other news my other half has passed his theory for the third time bd ill be going on my car insurance (he's paying) and learning to drive
woohoo!!!
Hope everyone is doing well

Bragging is good!!!

I'm doing well and although it will kill me, I'm keeping up my tutoring during term time
it's worth it for the extra money!
Nothing much else to report tbh, nothing exciting anyway! Most exciting thing was finding rice cakes for 29p...was paying 89p for them in asda! Love home bargains and B&M! Haha
