When did PPI stop being added to accounts?

Options
I was recently told that the government stopped companies adding PPI to accounts in 2011 sometime.

Is this true? I don't want to try to claim for mis-sold PPI if the account isn't old enough

Thanks
Gilly

No. There has been no such rule.

There were amendments to the processes required and most lenders stopped offering it. However, it is still available as a product and can be sold. Most typically it is only on mortgages nowadays as that was one area where PPI was generally regarded as worth having.

PPI is still available! It is not illegal, never has been and never will be. Credit Card and Mortgage PPI is still available.

The FSA banned single premium PPI in 2009 if thats what you mean.
