No real panic. He just wondered why it was sent so early. He will probably give them a ring and see if he can find out why as no-one here has come across this happening before.
Some times it does happen, it normally relates to new security features being added to the cards chip etc or a card being upgraded to say for example contactless its a pretty common occurance within the RBSG.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Yes but this isn't the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS)were talking about, Its Bank of Scotland (BOS).
I guess the simple answer would be for him to call BOS and find out why he's been sent a new card out.
What kind of account did he have before did he have a Cash Card account and they have upgraded him to the Classic account? He would then probably get sent a new card to allow him to use all cash machines and not just HBOS cash machines that the Cash account only allows.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -

I was assuming stclair knew that but as the signature says he/she works for Natwest which is part of RSBG and was therefore giving an answer based on experience.I guess the simple answer would be for him to call BOS and find out why he's been sent a new card out.

Not that I'm aware of. It was his main bank account here and he could use all the ATMs here.0 -
This happens all the time - banks are frequently sending out cards earlier than the scheduled expiry of the previous card.
Security upgrades in the chip, additional features (e.g. contactless) and a number of other reasons.0 -
Probably something to do with project Verde - it being part of Lloyds banking group.0

I've just had a new card for my spare EasyCash account despite it having another 6 months on the card but my Mum who has a Reward account hasn't had a new card? Not really concerned as I only use the account occasionally but I did wonder.
