Did she steal the money, or did Wonga take it off your card?
What I mean is, have you paid Wonga on her behalf before? They have been know to use other peoples cards to clear a debt once its gone unpaid.
I'd clarify this before calling the police etc
This.
If you have "helped" her in the past by paying off a previous loan with your card then they will have retained the details in case they needed an alternative payment source in the future.0 -
Doesn't sound like the sort of relationship I'd want to be in. I hope the sex is worth the money.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

However at the same time, the relationship can't be that good!
I'm not one to give relationship advice, however if my OH was in the situation, I'd give her the money. There's no way she would need to feel as though she'd need to steal it!

Yet it would be unfair, if it involved "stealing it back" from someone other than the debtor.
That's like me being burgled, then replacing my stolen items, by burgling someone else.0 -
Of course it's unfair.copperlight wrote: »Look at this way...if people steal money from pay day loan companies and some even boast about it on here Im not surprised these companies want to steal some of it back. Or would that be 'unfair'?
OP hasn't 'stolen' money from Wonga, and nor is it his fault if others have.0 -
OP, I'm sorry that this has happened. However, you need to deal with things now to ensure that nothing else comes out.
Go into your branch and request a new account. Do it online if you are able. Transfer all your money to that account, and close down the old one in full. It might seem extreme, but if she has your details and you get into a fight about it, she might feel that she is already in for fraud, so why not grab some more - I'm sorry, but you really need to protect your position.
If you can overcome it and stay together, then ask her how she intends to repay the money to you. Ask her that anyway, to be honest. But keep your personal account details well away from hers and close out any joint accounts that you might have, unless she is willing to have her name taken off them to avoid you having to move all the household bills - she owes you that much.
Get your financial associations stripped out - her use of PDLs will be affecting her credit ratings, as will her her failure to pay. You do not need that linked to you via joint finances.
I wish you all the best. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I would give my OH every penny I had if she was in dire straits. However, should she steal as much as a penny from me, I would instantly drop her like a stone.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

You're right, if you're not a troll this is your life but this is the life you will continue to have if you stay with your girlfriend. You say she'd already done this before and you gave her another chance only for her to take £2,000 from your account without your permission.
If that was my boyfriend his stuff would be in bags in the street, no discussion or excuses. If you stay with her you facilitate her and she will continue to treat you like a bottomless wallet she can mug off whenever she wants.0 -
Wonga steal £2000 from person who never agreed to it, this could be the difference between someone paying rent and ending up homeless. Big difference because one is a corporate body and the other is a living breathing person.
Why are people mentioning the idea that Wonga has stolen anything? They haven't, the OP's girlfriend has.
If I stole your credit card, and your security details, and used it to buy my shopping, Tesco hasn't stolen from you, I have.
I understand that you would like it to be the case that Wonga are in the wrong, but that's not how the law works.0
