  • I got this book out of the library after someone on here mentioned having read it. What a fascinating book and so educational about OS ways!!:j Reading it also motivates me to get off my bum and do something constructive with my time :rotfl:Has anyone else read it?

Yes and "Nella Last's Peace" which was equally as good. I enjoyed them both but have to say Nella was quite weathly by standards in those days. They had a car and a telephone. Unheard of in the village I lived in. We had no electricy (only gas) and didnt have water laid on to the house only in the back garden. Shared by three cottages. We had a shop so wernt considered poor so heaven knows how poor people managed.
  • I loved both books. I'll add this to the existing Nella Last thread.

Cant remember the name of the books! But they were very good. Have seen this before but certainly preferred reading the books as I could put my own imagination into what was going on and what people looked like - IYKWIM!

edit :Think it was something like Nellas Last War and Nellas Last Peace - one follows her through the war years - the other in the years following the war.

There are three books-Nella Last's War which covers up to August 1945, Nella Last's Peace which covers up to 1948 and Nella Last in the 1950s which goes up to 1952.

As suzybloo says the books are much better than the programme
