Parking eye fine

I overstayed at a service station on a boiling hot day by an hour and twenty mins as I had a meal, drink and did some shopping. apparently it is 2hrs maximum.

I had until yesterday to pay the £60 fine but I appealed and asked them for a POPLA code.

I am worried as I have never been in this situation before. I expect to have the appeal rejected as I just copied it from this website and now I have noticed there are different/longer appeals I could have used.

Anyway, what do I do next please?

Any help would be appreciated.:j

Well, you may not get a POPLA code initially as the PPCs are running scared of POPLA at the moment.

It depends on what you wrote in your appeal. Do not ignore, though as PE are the most militant of the PPCs and the ones who are most likely to proceed to court if you ignore.

Come back when you get a response

Ignoring hasn't been the advice for quite sometime. Anyway, you need to start your own thread to ensure you get information specific to your case.

but zicok is right - there was still a huge amount of advice (after Oct) about ignoring the charge notices.

I can't be bothered to fish it out but there was one only 3 months ago. I wrote to say that I was getting confused by the conflicting advice and was accused of being a troll (pretending not to understand)for my trouble.

I've read every post on the first two pages - not a single person has suggested ignoring unless, and only in some very specific cases, the OP has missed the appeal time limit.

It's only confusing if people don't check for the most up to date advice - reading posts 3 months old isn't the way to get the latest advice.

Beenie - to find a thread from 3 months ago you need to go back 70 (seventy) forum pages. With around 20 threads per page then that's around 1,400 separate threads.

The 'don't ignore' advice has been going since PE started seriously pursuing their court strategy. It has been pretty much standard advice for at least 3 months to any newbie whose ticket falls within appeal dates. Those who have left it too late, with no other option than 'ignore', can only be advised to continue on that path. 'Ignore' is also a workable strategy for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

But for anyone else it is absolutely no longer the case.

Why would anyone choose to read threads 70+ pages back, rather than much more current ones, is beyond me. You can type almost any of the current PPCs into the search engine and you will find threads far more recent than 70 pages back.

People choose to 'ignore' because it's the most comfortable (head under the quilt when the bogey man visits the bedroom), but then point a finger back at the forum when their 'ignore' decision goes wrong.

NEWBIES - wise up - DO NOT IGNORE A PARKING CHARGE NOTICE - you have been warned!

Hovite and Ukomaas, I don't know how to do links to threads, but look at the one entitled 'Yet another PCM' by willy worry, and you will read that he too read advice to ignore....and that's today's screen. A reply from kirbyinfurnesslad tells him to continue ignoring!

You don't need to actually go back 70 pages......what I meant was that posts cropping up within the last few days (but started maybe 3/4 months earlier and continuing to get replies) definately have advice to ignore when we know that the regs changed in Oct last year. That's what confuses people coming here for advice.

The thread you are quoting couldn't be better, a perfect case of what I am saying. If you're past the appeals point in terms of time (ie too late) because you've ignored everything else to date, then the only option you've got left (other than to pay up) is to continue ignoring.

In fact I posted on willy worry's thread as well as Kirkbyinfurnesslad, here's what I said
willy worry - I can see why you chose your nom de plume!

As said previously, pity you didn't come here earlier, but you are where you are. You're too far down the road to do anything other than continue to ignore.

What you mustn't ignore are any real court papers. If any arrive (likely originator Northampton court) then get back to us for further specific advice.

Debt collectors can only write to you (possibly phone you), but nothing else. So - court papers, come back, if you need future reassurance, come back, anything else - ignore!

    HTH

All totally consistent with what I'm saying on this thread.

If you've a chance of a POPLA appeal then do NOT ignore. Ignore at your peril, but ultimately this is only advice - do whatever you think is best - but why come for advice in the first place?

Advice is given freely and sincerely; alternatively there's plenty of lawyers who'll be only too pleased to [STRIKE]take your money[/STRIKE] help. :)

Replied on your other thread, please keep ONE thread (not both) update when you get your POPLA appeal code:
