Is it legal for ebay to take commission from seller's postage?

I have informed ebay that my low value items have been ended due to charging commision on postage, if we all do this and ebay will loose listings and revenue, so why don't we all stick together and wake them up, it won't take long if we all email them the reasons to customerhelp_uk@ebay.com0

You'll get a cut and paste response telling you where to find their charges. They don't want you to sell low value items, you took the hint.victor_meldrew_jnr wrote: »I have informed ebay that my low value items have been ended due to charging commision on postage, if we all do this and ebay loose listings and revenue, so why don't we all stick together and wake them up, it won't take long if we all email them the reasons to customerhelp_uk@ebay.com
It's only the big sellers that bring in the revenue, the rest of us are generally considered as buyers. The big sellers can negotiate their own fees.
Now can this thread die please? I'm thinking that 12 months is long enough for any legal cases to have made it to court. I haven't read anywhere that Ebay have been banged up for 18 months for charging a fee on postage. Although it would explain some activity (or lack of) on the site lately. Perhaps they're on a tag and aren't allowed out after 7pm:D.0 -

I'm sure they are delighted that a small seller has taken the hint and gone, leaves more time for the bigger sellers who make ebay money.

It's still going on over on the community boards as well , every week or so someone starts a thread 'hey, since when have eBay taken a cut of my postage?'
Since a certain member never came back to gloat that their lawyers had stopped this going ahead, I assume that if there were any legal challenges, and it wasn't just wishful thinking, that the challenges failed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Can this actually be proved true?Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0 -

The same question has been asked on the community boards time and time again, but everyone seems to know someone else who knows for sure that it is definitely true that eBay charge mega sellers a special rate.
I wonder if it is a misunderstanding of how featured shops work and the TRS discount .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I certainly have seen some medium to large sizes businesses who are allowed all the pictures with graffiti still and links to their own web site.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Is this a joke?
Buyers pay for EVERYTHING.Always open a case if your unhappy with a transaction :money:0 -
Not by me. They used to say that it was a level playing field for all, that message was dropped a few years ago. I'm not really bothered if they do or not, but I doubt that Tesco, Argos or Canon simply open an account and start listing. Apart from anything else, a company with their own customer service save Ebay money. I don't think a corporation will come to Ebay and say "We've got £5million/annum business for you what are your rates?" and Ebay just send them a link to their fees page.ballisticbrian wrote: »Can this actually be proved true?
As far as proving it goes, I would doubt that two large corporations would allow their business negotiations to be common knowledge.
Ebay and Argos have many more connections than just Argos selling on Ebay so I would guess that they have worked out a deal for selling fees..0
