ghost1001 - it doesn't 'keep changing' - it changes once at Llysfaen to 50 mph which is very clearly marked and goes back up to 70mph at Mochdre which is also very clearly marked- the reason is the slip roads are very short so traffic needs to be able to merge easily - and I'm afraid our beloved chief constable - Mr Brunstom is extremely hot on prosecuting people who are speeding - we locals know it is just not worth it. As for the punishment you will receive - sorry can't help you there but if you aren't banned - take my advice for next time and DON'T SPEED IN NORTH WALES (you have been warned!!!!)
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

Hi guys
I was caught speeding by an unmarked car in North Wales on 14/01/07. Stupidly I was doing 82 in a 50. It was on the A55 (Colwyn Bay) where the speed limit keeps changing from a 70 to a 50.
Today I have received a summons to appear at Wales Court on 28th June.
I just wondered if anyone could offer me any advice.
The Summons was not sent recorded delivery or anything, it just arrived as normal post. Does this make any difference?
Makes no difference as you would have had a verbal NIP when stopped.ghost1001 wrote:Does anyone have any idea of the likely punishment?

Thanks all for your advice!
Lesson learnt...In hindsight a realise it was excessive - was over the 70 mph even if it had been 70.0 -
Do you think I'm better off going to court or just replying by post?0

they do listen despite what the conspiracy theory idiots on pepperspray.co.uk or whatever the barrack room lawyer site is.
If your firm will have to dispense with your services as you can no longer drive you will need a company headed letter to that effect or a rep from your firm to inform the court that this is what will happen. Dont come up with the usual excuses "I didnt see the signs2 unlike the tens of thousands of others who do see the signs and comply everyday, or "The signs and speed cameras are dangerous because they make me look at the speedo and I am incapable of doing both"
Just be contrite and apologetic and tell them this has been a shock to the system and made you realise and I will lose my job but you will need the supporting evidence from your firm also the effect it will have on your home life, such as unable to take poor old mother out for her lap dancing classes and little johnny needs a lift everyday in order to do his ?
Im sure there must be something you rely on driving for which will have an effect on your family? you are not so much a consideration, but the effect on family life does get noted, that is if your wife drives? which Im sure she doesnt :rolleyes:0
