Used car purchased with fault - advise please
Hi All,
I recently (day before yesterday) picked up my new used car.
The car was £6000 with full dealer service history in (quote) immaculate condition.
Since then I have noticed 2 faults, firstly the window electric window switch (not hugely bothered) and also a VERY intermittent problem with the engine.
The card has twice lost power between 3-3500 revs, kind of like a hesitation but I can get it to do it on demand and as stated, it has only happened twice since I have got the car, certainly nothing that would be noticed on a test drive.
The car was sold with a WMS warranty (worth the paper it's written on?) bit this issue is not something I can claim on (since it would require diagnostics).
Where from a consumer point of view do I stand on this? Do I take it back and explain the issue as he does have a responsibility to provide a fix, do I just live with it as its so intermittent. I could in honesty live with it but,
a) What if it gets worse later down the road
b) What happens if it happens when I'm overtaking on a motorway?
The problem is that the issue is so intermittent that I doubt I could ever show the fault.
Advice much appreciated.
Thanks,

even with intermittent faults the car electronics will often log it so worth taking it back to the seller....
a. to make them aware there is a problem and
b. to get them to see if the fault has been logged by the electronics0 -
You have to let the dealer know ASAP, if the fault gets worse you are then able to say that you did notify them when it first started.0
