SKY's call back offer this morning....Good or Bad?

This morning SKY called up trying to get me to stay with them. Having been with them 5 years, i want to stay, but with money short.... Anyway. At the moment i have everything except sports, 2 HD boxes and multiroom. All for £32 a month (last years half price deal).

Today i was offered the same tv channels without HD or multiroom for free for 6 months.
If i took multiroom only it was about £10.
Taking both multi room and HD would be £22 per month.

No new contract either...

Is this the best i will get? I mean i dont see them doing a deal on HD..

    Crafty.

They offered it without HD or Multiroom because if you then decided you wanted those back they could lock you in for a further 12 months - without discount.

Bear in mind, also, that if you make any change to your "package" during a discounted period, your discount is terminated immediately. It says so in the small (minute) print.

If you cancel your HD Pack now, you won't ever be able to get that back anyway and would then have to switch to the "Entertainment Extra Plus" pack to get HD. And that would mean a new minimum term of 12 months...

And you'd lose the free Formula One channel when you surrendered your current HD pack.

And you don't get free HD on the Movies (as you do now, with the HD pack) on "Entertainment Extra Plus" – they'd charge you "just" an extra £2.50 a month (£30 a year), in addition, for that.

Beware a Murdoch bearing gifts (especially if it's "Toxic" Jamie).

I'd ask them (nicely) what they can offer you on a further 12 months discount with no new minimum term, instead.

Argue that "50% for 12 months would be the same as free for 6 months." (Which isn't true but it's what Sky says to other people, so you've got a reasonable chance of persuading them that it is. )

If you can't get that, opt to keep the Multiroom and the HD for £22 a month for now and then renegotiate the whole thing in 6 months' time. Your existing HD pack is valuable; don't be lured into losing that.

F1 doesnt interest me. So not bothered there. As for Movies. There aint anything decent on, so we are thinking of dropping that. Not bothered by the HD channels we can drop, the only reason we took HD was for the movies. So looks like we can drop this. Getting shot of the SKY in the bedroom. Rarely watch it there. And we will still have the box as freeview correct?

So just the one box, in the livingroom.

PS. On demand, where i can download tv shows, is that free? Presumably i must subscribe to movies before i can watch any movie content from the demand services...

Just rang up as they got my cancellation date wrong, realised and cancelled. Sky terminates on sept 24th now. Asked about offers and there are none for me. I asked why on 8 August I got a call with the offers above and was told they are outgoing calls and only offered once and that now my notice is in I won't get a deal. If that's the case then bye bye sky.
