O/S Daily Thursday 8th August 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Bright and sunny here this morning. Greenhouse watered.
DH and DS1 up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was sausages, mash, veg and gravy, menfolk had swissroll for dessert, I had a yogurt. Dinner was late again last night as 1 of DH's friends came with his long ladder to see if we could fix our guttering at the back of the house - when it rains it leaks - he went up the ladder (DH can't do ladders!) and it had come apart at a joint - think it's due to the amount of really heavy downpours we keep getting, but looks like all fixed now. Tonight will be a quick and easy tea of fish, chips and beans for the menfolk, and mushroom omlette and salad for me.
Engineer came out to the DW and hasn't actually fixed the part that needed fixing - so have made a complaint and they are organising another engineer for when we get back from hols. Took DS2 's phone back to the shop and they have confirmed it's got something wrong with it and have lent him a basic phone whilst his is sent off to be repaired/replaced.
Have shed loads of stuff to do today - so shortly I will be heading to the SM to do a small shop, then have nails and toes appointment, need to do ironing, packing, go into town to the bank, do some baking to take with us and hopefully give the house a clean up, think it's going to be a long day!
Keep safe and well x

Mornin... Just checking in before get the girls up for their dance club although one is going to football today. I thought my days of keeping up with football were long gone being a female house we have leant towards other interests. I was joking with dad as when a teenager I sometimes ended up having to run the line if I went to oodles the boys and now I have to get my knowledge of players etc all up to date again!
Have to go back to opticians tomoz as my pressure in my eyes is too high and they have to do test with an anaesthetic. I'm a bit nervous.
Today, I have a list. We've no other activity booked so I'm hoping I will make a big dent in it.Don’t put it down - put it away!

Good Morning everyone:j
I woke up very cheerfully this morning after having a load of very happy dreams. I can't even remember what they were about but I feel very smiley this morningIt's funny how dreams can affect your whole mood. I dreamed once that my hubby was cheating on me with my best friend and I was so evil to him all day, poor beggar didn't know what he had done!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
I'm off to drop DD10 at my friends this morning. She's going to Butlins for the day on Friday with her and excited isn't the word. I've had to wash all her clothes so she can choose what to wear. The weather is meant to stay fine so she will be going on all the fairground rides for most of the day, I'm glad I'm not going to be there to watch that, my heart is in my mouth just thinking about some of the rides . Yes.....I am a wimp
I have to book the evil kittens in to be spayed next week and then they should be able to go out at last. They keep making a dash for the garden as soon as the door is opened so they are ready, whether the neighbourhood is, is another matter. :rotfl:I found one of them in the tumble dryer this morning, luckily before I had filled it and switched it on. I always check the washing machine too as they seem fascinated with it.
Chicken and chips for tea tonight so that is quick and easy and I don't have to get anything out to defrost. The pie went down a storm yesterday but I was so hot in the kitchen with the oven on. I will be glad when I can open the back door without the kittens escaping.
Well, that's all my waffling on for today, hope everyone manages to have a great day too. Gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Morning All
Couldn't sleep last night so I was up at 5.30am. I have already done two loads of washing and got it on the line, the last one is in the machine now.
I have an appointment at a London hospital this afternoon, so I am trying to get everything done before we leave at 12.30pm.
Dinner tonight depends on what time we get home. DH wants Chinese, but I prefer to have a salad so it will probably be DH, DS and DD with Chinese.
Right I must get on
((((((Hugs)))))) to Hester, LW, Molly, Bethebee, hilly and all other poorlies x

Morning All
Hugs to all those struggling, having caught up with yesterday's thread it seems that some folk think we aren't OS enough? Well, just having the support of folk on here who don't judge is fantastic. Long may it last.
Got back from Krakow yesterday afternoon where it was very hot, 35 - 38 degrees! Very hot for sightseeing but we took our time and it was fine. Everything is so cheap there we stopped for drinks regularly. 4 of us could have a large meal and drink (some alcohol was consumed!) and it came to about £20! We had an apartment which is the first time we have done that, usually go to an hotel but the apartment was lovely and better for the 4 of us.
DD has had South African visitors here for a couple of days but the house is spotless and the washing is up to date, just the beds to strip. The weather could go either way today so will only do one bed in case I need to bring it in to dry on the airers.
Dentist today, have gone to a new one so will see how that goes.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Molly, LW, Julie, Beth, Hester, Hilstep Hugs.
LushLS Wheelchair rugby is an amazing sport, my DS plays rugby and wheelchair rugby looks even tougher!
I am going to the camp this morning to pick up my DDs to get their washing done before we head off on holiday tomorrow. I am so looking forward to seeing them.
Saw my friend yesterday who is having a really hard time, she looked terrible, I wish that I could do more to help.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all,
thanks for your words of support yesterday friends and to NAR for missing me. I'm ok, just not on top form yet but it'll pass.
All is well with me. Family's health is good, the men are still working 12 hour shifts and hubby is so much happier in himself now he's paid his loan off. My Grandbaby is putting on weight nicely and my daughter is still being looked after by her Fiance. He's been doing the night shift whilst she sleeps. My boys are ok and my eldest daughter is happy as some of her closest friends here in the UK have gone out to South Africa to spend a month with her and her partner.Hugs to all those struggling, having caught up with yesterday's thread it seems that some folk think we aren't OS enough?
Who gives a stuff what other people think? I certainly don't. The thing about being OS is that we take what we want and discard what we don't. Personally, I don't clean with vinegar but I use it as a mild acid on my face when I go to bed. Still, that's my take on it anyway but I am still an official grump so its best probably to ignore me.:o
Usual jobs for Thursday but not so many of them. Being an official grump means ive been spending less time on my pc and phone and more time scrubbing windows and floors.

Earlier today, thank goodness, and a lovely night's sleep again.
I sewed together my very OS quilt lining yesterday, today I have to attach it to the patchwork top so that I can back it tomorrow. Lots of pinning and machine stitching. Ouch! My shoulders are less painful now than they have been which is a mercy as it's 84 inches square and quite heavy.
Last night's dinner for tonight as we finished off a lot of odds and ends instead yesterday.
Builders should finish today, they spent yesterday grouting, skimming the raised beds and doing fiddly things like cutting a paving stone to go around the line post. I'd have filled the square with gravel, but they said it would be messy. I'm impressed with their attention to details for the price they are charging.
I might have to iron some shirts for DH later on
Nothing wrong with being an Official Grump, Judi. I put vinegar on chipsand Stardrops on the sink.
Well, time for some tea I think.
Hugs all round! XI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning all,
Hugs for your friend Moorhen, its everything you being there x
Camelot glad you enjoyed your hols:D
tibawo I was the same with football, had three strapping brothers who loved it and now have three strapping sons so I have no choice. But I do enjoy it particularly when my beloved Manchester United are playing:T
Have a very curious situation in the garden. We saw a huge rat in the garden a couple of days ago, now I don't mind the field mice, and we have a big field behind us, but this rat was HUGE, anyway we don't have any animals so hubby put down rat traps and well out of the way of any cats that may wander in. Under the shed etc anyway so far we have caught two little mice which makes me feel dreadful and last night we came home to find a mouse In the trap, hubby decided to leave it until this morning. When he went out both the trap and the mouse have gone! No idea what's going on, answers on a postcard !
Bit of a chaotic evening, our youngest missed his train as he was working late and the next one wasn't until 10.30 so we drove down to pick him up, both in our pyjamas:o I couldn't bear the thought of him hanging around in a busy train station at that time, I know I'm a big softy he's six foot and a strapping lad but still my baby.
Today I'm going to have a nice shower and then a leisurely breakfast. I'm still waiting to hear about physio so shall chase that up at 9 when they open.
Off out with dh this afternoon just for a change of scenery really. Anyway have a good day whatever your up to J xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning :hello:
Happy Birthday Molly :bdaycake:
Yesterday I booked our holiday :j Cornwall, end of september :j Can't waitAnd I've just googled Looe Musical Festival, it's on the weekend we arrive :j We stumbled across it in 2011 (went there for some fish and chips, which we intended to eat on a quiet beach, lol) and it was fab.
The washing is still on the line from yesterday. The air has felt quite damp for a couple of days so it's taking ages to dry. It's undercover so it doesn't matter if it rains. I hope it's dry now, I want to bring it in so I can sit out there with the laptop/yarn/book – haven't quite decided yetStill working on that blanket, it's about 3' long now.
The tomatoes are finally starting to ripen We've had a few cherry toms but I want to taste some new (new to us) varieties – rainbow blend and marmande.Bulletproof0
