Postal Orders

Going back to the OP I do have a concern here and would ask the OP for some clarification.
I know I am slightly paranoid about scammers, but I do have a slight alarm bell ringing..bargain item (ie no one else wanted to bid?) and a lovely untraceable postal order that hasn't arrived? Before making any further payment I would suggest the OP checks the seller out thoroughly, what is the feedback like, was postal order the only payment method (which in itself I find a worry as it suggests a youngster with no bank account), was it a lot of money?
Obviously if it was just a small £5 item then it would seem unlikely to be a problem, and as others have said it's just gone astray in the post. If however it was a larger amount I would have concerns.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The Post Office can also trace uncrossed postal orders.
You will be safe provided that the payee's name was on the postal order.0 -
Thankyou all so much for all your feedback.
The seller has 100% feedback and has been selling other items at the same time and they have worked out well, all with positive feedback. I contacted them again today and they said they have still not received it, but the post office has recently changed their postcode, but they still get all their mail for the old postcode., which was the one that was sent to me.
I contacted Royal Mail and they are sending me a P58 form.
What do I do next? I do not want to pay again for an item I have already paid for. It was only 18.00 for the item and postage but others have sold for 3 times this amount.0 -
Hi yes their name was on postal order0

Was it crossed?0

No Postal Order was not crossed, so probably my own silly fault but it was named.
Just googled their address and it showed up as a B&B that they own so in truth anyone could have probably taken it. I just don`t know what to do next as there is no way I am going to pay twice for an item.
What if they open a non payer dispute?0 -
If they open an NPB on you then there is a very good chance that you will get a strike. This is the problem with postal orders and one reason why I would never suggest them for payment. Assuming the seller is genuien then they have a valid reason for going down the NPB and a strike route as they have not been paid.
Ask any sellers on here how many times someone has claimed that a payment has been lost in the post...unfortunately as that does happen it means that genuine buyers like yourself suffer.
I don't know much about PO as I don't use them, but hopefully there is some way of tracing them once they are cashed. However, I rather suspect that there isn't as I have happily been able to cash the uncrossed ones I've been sent at a post offcie with no id required at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi. Maybe the seller is telling the truth and the PO hasn't been delivered yet. There has been marked delays in post delivery in the past 2-3 weeks.
I paid for an item on May the 23rd and received it on May the 31st. The date on the parcel proved that it had been posted on May the 24th by first class post. Maybe give it a few more days and email the seller again. Cheers.I
