Quite keen to switch to the Jan 2015 fixed plan.
But comments in the forum have scared me off.

Only other option is fixing for a year (EDF, for e.g.) but hardly seems worth fixing for such a short time.

Any positives for npower?

I thought you created a thread 5 hours earlier saying you were switching to EDF

    I did.

I was about to switch, but then did some further research.
Surely you understand the nature of these things...
  • Given the trouble they got themself into (see the SAP thread) and remain so based as you say with constant criticism here, I would avoid.

I'm with Npower and don't mind them. Just switched over to the Fixed Sep 2016 price plan. They're nice people to talk to on the phone and *touch wood* I've never had a problem with them.

They made a complete mess of my attempt to switch to them. They requested a transfer for the wrong gas supply, so it was rejected. I was then told that I'd have to wait 6 weeks or so before they could try again. Then it was rejected again. Ended up with gas on EDF and electricity on nPower.

It's really damaged my faith in the switching process - I'd think very hard about switching at all now (I've moved house since, so the situation would not be exactly the same). Switching supplier should be easy and simple - it should not involve repeatedly waiting for 45 minutes to speak to someone in customer services because of the energy company's incompetence.

Was with Npower on and off last 5-6 years
Same as all others I suppose but their online accounts were not good. But saved money!
I think perhaps you have now left it to late to switch to the best deal Feb 2015 See Link

I was with them about 5-6 years ago and had great service and only left because I got a better deal. However I am in the process of transferring back to them and have gone for their 2015 fix.

All the time I was with them I never had an issue and in my experience the problems are normally caused by the customer by not reading their meters or not understanding the terms and conditions.
  • Genuine question: of those that are with them, how many know about the annual discount and how it works?

Why is a one year fix 'not worth it for such a short time'? If the price is right. of course it's worth it.
Most savvy consumers look to switch once a year anyway.
