OP
what was the car and how much cheaper was it than it should have been
Am not sure anyone has been "vile"
You are obviously feeling sick, embarresed etc etc and it is good that you have warned others, its a shame you didnt check on here first though0 -
Is the bank account in the UK? It could be reported to the police and HMRC as being used for the proceeds of crime. I doubt it would lead to the return of the money, alas.0

My sympathy is with the OP.
However, simple checks can really limit this kind of issue.
Never pay money for a car you have not seen and driven.
If dealing with a private seller, make sure you view the car at their home address. Go in for a "cup of tea" to ensure this. Get their name, address, phone number and keep a note of it.
Ensure the documentation - V5 and recent bills particularly - Tie in with the owners name. Insurance too.
Conduct a HPI check on any car you are seriously considering buying to ensure it is not stolen, written off, or subject to finance.
If you are not confident of your ability to spot a scam then it may be worth restricting your car buying to established dealers, and accept you pay a little more for some peace of mind and dealer facilities.
As soon as paypal, western union, or google wallet are mentioned, run away, don't walk.0
