How on earth are you going to get on in Australia if you fall at the first hurdle here?

    So, what does need doing?

Have you thought about joining freegle/freecycle?

Re-decorate one room with paint (either your bedroom or a living room or both) make it into a haven and work from there.

You do not need money and if you try and limit the amount of stuff in the house initially it will be a lot easier to sort out.

Many people skip new kitchens and bathrooms when they move into a house; keep your eyes open and you could find replacements that only need plumbing in.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

You bought a house and because its a state your looking to sell it?
Do the work and be proud of the work you have done?

I bought a house and i knew it needed a lot doing to it so got it on the cheap. But a few rolls of wallpaper costs nothing, neither does stripping wallpaper - get the radio on and a bit of elbow grease and it should be find.

With regards to the kichen, does it all need replacing or do you just need to replace the doors? Cheaper than replacing the carcasses.

None of those jobs seem urgent, so you could do what is affordable now?

I think you might be blowing this out of proportion looking to sell the house just because some work is needed.

(Just to give you an idea of what i had to do - electrics, plastering, new bathroom, new kitchen, new carpets and decorating in every room... infact the only bit that didnt need touching was the garden and thats just a lawnmower every week or 2). Your in a position to really make this whole house your own.

From what I can make out then, your partner looked around the property for you to invest in, to sell 4 years later and emigrate. Why didn't you do more research.

:( I know. We've been sensible up until this point. I've literally been saving for 10 years for our deposit and we had no debts up until this point. I guess when we realised that we finally had a 25% deposit on a 150k place we got swept up with the process and should have slowed it down. What is done is done. If we never buy again then so be it, I'd rather be in a happier place and renting than stuck there forever.

To add more to what RAS has mentioned.

If you have a facebook account check out all the selling site in your area.

There was 3 fitted kitchens on my local site for sale, 1 was free and the other 2 were for a couple of hundred pounds.

    Good luck

Sorry but you are coming over like a spoilt child. What is the problem with living in a non perfect house for a few years? You are pretty young after all.
