some of these parking companies impose fines when they shouldnt do so because of faulty camera technology.

For future reference, with anything like this even if they take you to court, so long as you pay within 28 days of a judgment being made, no CCJ will go on your file.

So worst case scenario is let it go all the way.. then just pay it if they win in court.
    What will your verse be?

No parking company can impose fines full stop

  • Looking for some advice after reading these threads about smart parking fines and it's looking to be a bit of a scam.

I recently parked in an asda supermarket, when returning to my car I realised I was issued with a parking ticket. It's states it was due to parking in a section of the car park for 'private parking for permit holders only'. I was unaware that this was an area for permit holders and have parked there for ages with no fine.

Should I pay it on not?

Ask for a breakdown of pre estimate of loss and a copy of the contract giving them authority and they will cancel both of your charges

As ever, this is covered in the sticky thread at the top of this parking forum - which is why I wrote it. Sadly, last year it got silly as we could not keep up with all the ''help I have got a private parking ticket, what do I do?'' threads so I wrote a sticky thread BEGGING newbies to 'read these FAQS first'.

Smart almost always just cancel when they get sent the appeal template from the NEWBIES thread, and if not then the sticky tells you how to win at POPLA and explains what that is...so please see my signature below this post which tells you where to click to see page one (sticky thread at the top!).

Should you pay it - are you JOKING?! :) PLEASE DO NOT REPLY ON THIS THREAD. IT'S OLD AND IT'S SOMEONE ELSE'S THREAD!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

Just to let people know, I sent an appeal with quotes I found on posts, and they emailed me to say they had cancelled it!

    Hi,
i was issued a £30 fine as i forgot to purchase .50p parking.
this asda is our regular shopping place and we never ever forgot to purchase a parking in past. this one time we did and SMART parking issued a fine.

i was wondering if you could please share what exactly your have sent and to whom? so i can request a cancellation for my fine too.
    many thanks in advance
