The scenario reeks of "We'll reject this for any damn reason we want" from the client, even when Frontline did them for a fee I always wanted a bonus as the pizza was pretty much US once you'd finished with it.
Surprise surprise they've rejected my report. Apparently part of one of my photos was a bit darkEven if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0 -

if not sure how send to me and ill see what i can do (cant work miracles though)
There's actually nothing wrong with them. i think Graeme is right, client coming up with spurious reasons to decline payment.
I would urge caution to anyone else thinking of doing these in future. Be preared to be £14 out of pocket!Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0 -
I am not doing much mystery shopping and did one today and must say I haven't missed it, its nice to get home and work/reports finished.
The companies are being mean with fees. I'm worth more than that0 -

Yes, it is a lot of hassle for low fees. I don't know how anyone makes any kind of living (or even part of a living) doing this - or that the money beats doing virtually anything else that pays.
Maybe they know about some lucrative video/audio work that can be done every week? I don't know. I'd be interested to know from the regulars here why they shop and what their aim for the money is.
Luckily for me (given the fees!) it's a little bit of pin money/an excuse for a burger whilst I'm out and about. I think that's what a lot of MSCs are aiming for - especially the ones that serve shops/pubs etc. I put the money to one side then spend it on toys. Still, if fees drop any more, I'd probably just forgo the burger and spend less time at the gym!It might be a good thing!

Back in the good old days before the recession I would make about £400 per month doing a bit of part time mystery shopping. Banks were quick and easy with no credit checks, you could do a round of 10 easily in a day. Funerals, pharmacies and food stores, petrol stations incl fuel were abundant.
Times have changed. I only do about 5 assignments a month now, and it's only if I know I'm going to be in that area on that specific day it needs to be done. The fees in some cases have almost halved. There's plenty of jobs on offer but with such low payment I wouldn't bother leaving my house.0 -

im not going to give away "trade secrets" * (that are not that secret) but there are PLENTY who make a very good full time living from this with much more variety, flexibility, travel and income than most other jobs... that is why they and I do it0 -

Oh no, I don't expect anyone to give away any "secrets".
I was just curious in general. The answers so far have been satiating that well!
It will never be a job/part of a job for me anyway - always just a bit of fun/toy money - I'm not wanting to take anyones lucrative bank jobs!
I just get a few beers and burgers and feel some satisfaction when I don't get pinged as a mystery shopper and slightly disappointed when they say "Would you like a receipt with that, sir?"0
