I did something unbelivelable yesterday - I actually tried to use a gaptimer for a shop. (For those lucky enough never to have been gifted one of these, it's a stopwatch, very cheaply manufactered to look like a 10 year old mobile phone).

I had managed to left the house without my primary mobile, and my secondary mobile's stopwatch doesn't do lap times.

But I remembered I had the gaptimer in my glove compartment. The thing is so hideous to click the buttons on I totally failed to actually collect the timings. *Sigh*.

You are the first person I know that's actually attempted to use one.. well done to you for failing miserably! I might go find mine, go old skool...
Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk

Some MS are sooooo stupid. I just read a brief for one, where you're supposed to go through the till process and at the last minute claim you forgot your purse, to avoid purchasing an item! Are the client's that cheap that they won't reimburse a shopper for a small item?

I didn't quote a mileage rate. They phoned me and I mentioned it was a long way from where I live. So ESA said they'll phone me back and doubled the original fee.

What typically do people get if there offered mileage? Even with double the fee it's not too great for that distance. I'm lucky I've got a C1 cheap to run plus I managed to pick up 3 MF jobs enroute :D

I normally quote 25ppm for stuff I want to do, and 42ppm for stuff I don't want to do but the allocator sounds desperate on.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

45ppm is the standard rate set by HMRC. I don't do anything for less, as it only barely covers your motoring costs

25ppm covers my work vehicle fine.

The worst scenario I've ever seen involved starting to sign up for a monthly direct debit donation to a charity, then "changing your mind" halfway through - the fee was absolutely pitiful too! If it were ten times the amount, I don't think it would be worth it to look and feel like such an *!@#%&*$!

Try designing a room in your house with sa, agreeing to purchase it, taking out finance then as you about to go home you have to do a reveal and get them to cancel it...

I didn't do today's shop very well...the weekly payment store...they basically said go elsewhere we're too expensive. Every time I tried to bring him back to the talking about the product in question he would say it's cheaper elsewhere, cheaper for you to get credit through a bank or use your credit card, don't do it, get a free one from a friend or from a charity shop....lol...now how am I going to write this up. I'd never shop here anyway...far too expensive. I should have dressed like a benefit claimant (however that is)...or got myself a baby and gone to the store with a pushchair. My work clothes probably gave away that I have a lot more spare money each week than I was letting on (should have worn tracksuit and trainers) or maybe pulling up outside in a 18 month old car gave it away. He eventually went through the list he was supposed to. Maybe when he mentioned the horrendous interest rate I shouldn't have laughed so loud and not said "it's how much!!!". Or maybe I shouldn't have mentioned I could get it for half the price on Amazon. I'll have to try harder for next time.

Ha ha this made me giggle. Dont read the thread much anymore so thankful somebody pointed it out.

MJ, as far as I recall you are a benifit claiment. I clearly remember quite a few of us pointing out you were cheating the system some time ago and im sure last time I made a comment you were being investigated. ?. (If memory serves)

Happy to know you can afford a new car and still taking pride in your work.
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

Agree - if the brief don't look believable then give a wide berth. I did a phone call last week and the guy must have thought I was on another planet as the recorded message gave you the answer to the scenario without needing to speak to anyone. The challenge was to get through the Ivr and speak to a real person..
