Thought I'd sign up for a few more MS companies and one of them that I applied to was Helion. I was surprised at the level of info they require - past employment history, ID and a photo! Is it worth it for the jobs they have? I'm not really keen on sending anyone a copy of my ID or a photo unless it's really necessary.

Jury is out for me 're Helion. I joined around six months ago and have done two jobs. Their main jobs are car audits which I don't do as have zero interest in cars. Other jobs which occasionally appear are audits concerning cameras or computers. They send out emails saying you can self assign and you end up with jobs pending that you never get. IMHO unless you are into cars you will only get a few jobs from them.

Re the Gfk stars job - one has popped up in my area for what is a working man's club. Is this the "norm" or can I anticipate more normal pubs - not been in one of these for a long time and recall you need membership to get in the place?. I can't see how you can do this without getting access to the bar area where these things are displayed. Some major blagging needed here..

I've been careful with the ones I've picked, working my way in slowly. I tried to get small supermarkets and convenience stores. I've picked one takeaway, easy enough to go in and ask for a menu, but have avoided scenarios like the one you have given.

Thanks - only one has appeared which is this working man's club. Hopefully more will load in the coming days which are a bit more accessible.

You are correct to be wary. They are based overseas and so not subject to UK data protection laws.

But they are based in the EU so covered by EU laws which are pretty similar to UK ones.

Keep checking, they are dribbling on for me rather than a big wodge.
I managed 5 today and they were a piece of cake, one was literately a piece of cake :-) 5 or them, 2 MF quickies and 5 ESA frozens and I was home and sitting down with a cup of tea at 2pm.
  • Some advice please.
One of the problems/ironies I encounter when out and about doing visits or other work is that I miss the ability to check the MS websites for updates in a quick and easy manner. As such I am going to buy a tablet and I wondered what experiences others have had with theirs when using them for such a purpose, if you do.
I have owned a couple of Apple iPads before but limitations with flash, overpricing and poor connection sockets means that I have ruled them out.
I have however more or less decided that I want Android OS because I prefer it, 7" screen to make it just about pocket-sized, 3G capabilities so I can be connected even without wi-fi, and that is more or less it although it would be great to have HDMI out and SD card slot as well but not essential and will make the price frightening. I like the new Lenovo yoga 8" for example.
    Any suggestions? Thanks, Jon.

I have used a Samsung Tab 10.1 and had no issues at all, a great device that is easy to use and set up I now have a Nexus 7, only because it is smaller and lighter, a very, very good machine and worth a £20 or so more than the Lenovo.

If you can handle the compromises on size the Samsung phone/tablets like the Mega or the Note 3, lest to carry when out and about.
  • Thanks Big Graeme, just the kind of personal advice I was looking for. I have heard great things about the Nexus 7 and with the latest 7/2 now out it has to be one I seriously consider. Can I ask, have you had any problems with viewing and accessing the MSC websites such as SASSIE etc or have you found it just the same as when doing this with a PC/laptop from home?
    Many thanks again.
