Ok - what can you buy for a £1.00 in a large computer store..
Answers on a post card...
I ended up buying batteries - the cheapest being £2.80. Luckily I was there for two other jobs ( different agencies) so it was worth while to do. (They just wanted a 'snap' and brochure)
I shall watch for that in the future - methinks..
I did the snap and brochure visit today and only afterwards, noticed the other visit on another website..........DOH!!!!!0 -
Thanks for the advice - the premise is that I have to get the absolute rock bottom price so i have to pretend to be very keen to purchase in cash that very day - so how do i go from that to 'no thanks!'0

I'd still go with the scenario that you're going to look at a similar car immediately after that visit.0 -

If it's the Indian Meal one, or their other trading name look in the clearance bins, there's normally something random, or an old peice of software, for 97p.
Or buy something and take it back (assuming brief allows).
Or buy something for the business (ream of paper, pack of discs for doing backups) and tax-deduct it.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -

Need to get someone else's opinion (partner/accountant).
Want to sleep on it.
Want to go for a walk/lunch and have a think about it, I don't like making decisions when I'm hungry (can result in a free lunch).
Want to get a quote from another dealer.
Get someone to ring you at a pre-arranged time to tell you your goldfish has drowned or other such emergency.
To be fair, unless you're a very, very good liar, they'll probably suss, but at this stage, you're leaving anyway, so who's bothered?Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

I think this happens to all of us at times. I rarely bother doing tax calcs until tax return time, and by then, because of averaging out, I am usually in (small) profit.
But I talked with my accountant about this the other day. If you are self employed, submitting records that show you have effectively made a loss may simply mean your income is not high enough to pay tax. I was told it is not an issue if your sole activity is loss making but the tax man takes a dimmer view if you are involved in two or more different activities, and the others make a profit. They are skeptical, and may judge you are using the loss making activity (in this case MS) to artificially reduce tax liability.
gosh yes, I'd not dream of showing a MS loss to set against my employment income. Then its really just a hobby.
How do food bloggers account for free meals that say a newspapers pay them to write about? I assume they don't get taxed on them as a BIK? they just have nil income (like our no fee jobs).0 -
Remind me to never to 6 phone jobs in one day. Sigh
Plus I couldn't find one - couldn't get hold of the company and guessed the address. :mad:0 -
Has anyone seen anything from RM lately?
I've noticed there's been nothing on their website for a while, and I've not seen any e-mails from them for equally as long.0 -

Nothing but then again there is nothing in the brief saying you can't return the goods.Has anyone seen anything from RM lately?

December and January were very quiet from them last year too, I've had a few bits last month but not the usual amount.0
