My HP 3 scanner/printer/copier is so old it operates with a converter gizmo that lets it use the USB port on my laptop. It works fine with Windows 7. I just unistalled it and let it plug and play when it had a problem.

    Worth trying.

Wizzbang - scanner drivers are often available online from the manufacturers website, even old ones. Do a search!

Thanks I already tried this, but it also mysteriously will now not install.

  • Did the store colleague use difficult language/words when discussing the products or appear patronising/ condescending? i e. did you understand everything they said to you?

This happens often - if if comes as a package (rather than a single file) un-zip it to egg to the DRV files and transfer it manually to the Windows/Drivers directory, then restart. There's no need for a formal installation.

Still no word on the viability of the React little app jobs. Already missed one - which I'm unlikely to be able to go back and do, as it was only booked to fit around other jobs. Do I get a strike if I cancel this, as is usually the case? And what about other app jobs for the coming week? Do I re-plan my diary to assume that they won't be happening? What a shambles.

Not sure I'd be wanting to do that even if you did find files called DRV they may be corrupt or worse infected.

That is the best way to freeze your PC, if the drivers are not designed for your version of Windows then either get new drivers or a new scanner.
  • Has anyone paid for the MS "Bible" spreadsheet that Ii came across when Googling? I have kept a spreadsheet of my own but it's getting a bit messy so I'd like to see other ways it could be set out. Or does anyone have any template/alternative to that paid-for version?

  • Gap keeps sending me emails about this "Gold" shopper thing urging me to book a relevant shop "NOW!!" etc but there's none available for me, annoying cos i've never done the petrol jobs yet so would have liked a chance at getting one

I would not worry about it, depending where you are there may only be one or two you can apply for, no fee just payment for some fuel. In fact my "Gold Shopper" status did not result in anything so I would not go out of your way to do a burger or chick job just for that or the "massive" premiums that would barely cover the cost of sending a letter.

I wouldn't worry about it counting against you. I emailed Ted last week and expressed my concerns that I may not be in a position to do my one job as I'm actually on holiday from today. Ted replied that, if I had to cancel, it wouldn't be held against me as it's their problem.
