Sainsburys Credit Card

Options
I've spent the last 4-5 years clearing my debts & regularly checking my credit rating to ensure it is up to date and correct.

Just over a month ago, I felt I was ready to apply for a new card to transfer my last £2500 to get 0% balance transfer fee.

I applied for the Sainsbury's Credit Card online, stipulating that I'd like to transfer the £2500 on my current credit card. After chasing them, I found that I was accepted. When I received the form to sign & send back, there was no mention of the credit limit.

On Monday, when I returned from work, I had 2 letters from Sainsburys. The first contained my credit card and it was on this letter that it stated that my credit limit was £2500. Immediately, I was concerned as I knew there was a fee to transfer the balance. The second letter stated "I regret I am unable to action the balance transfer mentioned on your application as there is not enough credit on your account". I felt better.

Today, when I got home, there was another letter from Sainsburys. It was my first statement. It showed that the balance transfer HAD completed plus there was the charge and, because it was over my limit, I had been charged an over limit fee. As you could imagine, I was furious.

I checked the statement for a customer services number and found one.
Monday-Friday 8am to 12 Midnight
Sat-Sun 8am to 6pm
Call 0500 40 50 60 (when in the uk)

It was 23:50 but I fancied my chances so dialled. Followed the automated prompts for Credit cards to be told that the office CLOSED AT 9PM.

With no other option, I found sainsburys bank complaints form ( appears to be the same form for their "Queries & Requests" so not sure how long it will take to hear back) and submitted my complaint.

After all that, any other recommendations on what I should do? apart from call them again.

Also, has anyone else had the situation when you transferred a credit card balance and been made to go over your limit before you've even received your new card or been made aware of your new card limit? That is what has really annoyed me, I've paid every statement back on time for last few years and this has happened.

Sorry for long post, really annoyed.
