We've booked the seats already so should someone have decided to kindly keep them warm for us I shall politely thank them and ask them to move on, failing that I'll hit them with a croissant!

Suggest to any seat-warmers that you & your mum could sit on their knee if they won't shift - it never fails for me ;)

Most trains have bins on on the way to London. It's the stations that dont. I travel several times a year to London from Yorkshire and they've always had them on board. When my Mum and I go, we take, plastic glasses, bottle of chilled bucks fizz, mapkins, crosiants/ pastries, presh fruit salad. Buy coffee on board. All then taken in a carrier bag and can be binned.

You should be fine for your brekkie then...and enjoy 1st class coming home - do you get drinks or a sandwich on your home-bound rail operator?

I'm not sure about drinks or a sandwich to be honest. I'll have to check that out. It'll be almost as exciting as getting a meal on a plane! :D Simple things in life entertain me the most :rotfl:

Sounds like just the thing I was planning. I might end up having to drink the Bucks Fizz though, my mum is a bit of a lightweight when it comes to drinking, I don't want her falling asleep during the show!

    Hi

Last year my husband took our son plus 2 of son's mates over to France for w/end to a gaming convention. Due to time they had to set off, they needed a packed breakfast. I didn't want croissants or pastries due to crumbs in the car. I ended up packing juice boxes plus water, cereal bars, biscuits, hard fruit (eg apple), packs of mini sausages and mini cheeses (eg baby bels) and individual packs of crackers (eg ritz). I also added wipes but they were messy 12 year olds -lol.

If it was me, I'd make smoked salmon and Philadelphia bagels, but then I'm not sure if I'm a bit weird.

When me and Mum went to Brighton last year for her birthday, we happened to pop into one of the shops at a London Station (one of them big ones, Liverpool Street/Kings Cross or such like) and they were selling glasses of wine (plastic glasses of course) and it had a seal on the top, so you just peeled it off and drank it. They were great!!

They do those in M and S think they're called le Froglet? Only remember as the name made me chuckle!

M and S also do mini bottles of prosecco too, could alwayss share one of those? Only know as it's just been DHs birthday and he got a few as I'm pregnant and our friends didnt want to rub my nose in with a full bottle!

Travelling back 1st class, if you are travelling with East Coast they offer complimentary food and drinks (alcohol and soft) or if travelling Grand Central you get tea, coffee, water and biscuits. Hope you enjoy your trip.
