Picnic breakfast suitable for on the train

Hi all

Im taking my mum to London to see Les Miserables as a thank you for all the free childcare she provides. We're travelling by train and leave at 7.30am. Im after some ideas for a breakfast I could pack to take with us for on the train. Just want to be able to dump everything in the bin after so don't really want to have to take a cool bag. No special dietary requirements, just after something a bit different.

Thanks all!

on a practical note, be aware that trains servicing london and london train stations rarely have bins due to the threat of terrorism, so make sure you take a carrier bag or something in case you need to cart the rubbish around with you for a bit.

as for the food, how about some nice pastries and maybe a fresh fruit pot? You can probably buy fresh coffee on the platform before boarding or maybe even on the train itself. Or for something more filling, a breakfast sandwich like a BLT?

Thanks for the ideas! Personally I'd go for the McMuffin :p but I think my Mum would prefer the pastries and jam. She's always buying those miniature jars so fresh coffee (well as fresh as it can be from the station) and some pastries and jam sounds good. Perhaps an emergency McMuffin for me too!

Homemade scotch eggs? Cheap to do but feel a bit special - and it's sausage and egg so it totally is a breakfast food!

Fresh croissants and mini jams, some orange juice & a half bottle of fizz (champers, cava or prosecco) to make bucks fizz.

Remember to take paper plates, plastic cups, napkins & plastic knives too ;)

I'd make croissants filled with ham and cheese then a lovely Danish to follow. And wrap in some pretty napkins. What about Buck's Fizz to make it a special occasion?;)
