Do you have Sync on only in Wifi Mode?

I believe Sync needs to be on for email to push with JB, but didn't with ICS (at least with TouchWiz, not sure about stock).

I was told the same and as far as i can work out it has got sync turned on but i wouldnt put my life on it.

if someone could give me step by step instrutions on how to check it that would be great.
    thanks

Hmmm, just checked on my own phone (JB 4.1.2) and Sync doesn't differentiate between Wifi and Mobile data. I thought it did, maybe it used to or I've confused it with Peak and off-Peak which it does differentiate.

So doesn't explain why you have it working in Wifi but not when on Data.

Anyhow, Open up the mail app, go to settings, select the account and scroll down to "Sync Email" and make sure the check box is checked.
Then scroll down a little further and go to "Sync Schedule" and make sure both peak and off-peak are regularly syncing.

...but now I'm thinking this isn't your issue:(

And Sync needs to be on under the notifications pull-down

What level of JB do you have?

If you pull-down the Notifications panels (just sliding finger down from top) there is a set of switches turning various things on-and-of ie. wifi, gps, sound, bt, blocking etc. Scroll these switches across and you'll find "Sync" to the right.

This was changed in a recent update, I'm not sure there used to be a Sync switch.

If you don't have it, go into Settings and into "Data Usage", then check under options and make sure "Auto sync data" is checked on.
