I have a Virgin CC and an MBNA CC. I've not received a letter stating that I'm being swapped over or staying with Virgin. I only found out about this swap when my sister said she is being moved over to MBNA.

    Should I be worried?

Eventually there will be a Virgin's own card, the Virgin Money credit card, will this have the current 16 digit number?

Within the last few days my wife has received a letter from Virgin stating that although she is not being transferred to MBNA her Virgin card number has changed and that she should make the necessary notifications to those agencies that have her previous number.

And, yes, it is very inconvenient for her as well as she travels for business frequently and left for a six week trip the day after the letter arrived. We assume the original card number will still work for several weeks. Hopefully!!
  • I had the letter re the move to MBNA. When I last logged in I get a MBNA screen and the last four digits of my card no is different, but I still have the original Virgin card. I guess the new MBNA card is in the post soon.

Does that mean I am free to apply for the 0% Virgin BY card?

Was coming here to ask the same question myself!

Recently got a letter saying my virgin card is being changed to MBNA, as St Neots has asked, does that mean i could apply for a Virgin Credit card if a 0% deal was on offer?

It's certainly an interesting question. If Virgin continue to offer the same type of repeat offers, like they always have in my experience, it would be well worth getting their card.

I'm being moved to MBNA, it says in the letter, I got, if you haven't got your new card by a certain date, in October to contact them. Should be within the next couple of weeks for definite though.

I'm wondering if it's the Virgin brand or the MBNA underwriting that's been powering that stance though...

I've seen many people on here mention that mbna are generous, with repeat offers.

Therefore it is likely to be mbna that are behind the repeat offers and not Virgin.

What's disappointing is that there has been no mention of if you would like a virgin card, you can apply once the split is complete etc.

So can we apply for one now, in 2 months or in 6 months to a year.
  • Hi, I have just seen this link. I too have a Virgin credit card and have received a letter saying, I will be receiving an MBNA card to replce it, all very confusing. But I've also 2 MBNA credit cards, which have had their limits dramatically dropped, for no other reason than, I didn't use them enough. I've been fuming since this happened and actually started a link on here to see if this had happened to anyone else. But it does make me wonder if its to do with the split Virgin/MBNA? My credit rating is fine, as I've just opened another another account and transferred what balance I had from MBNA, as I'm disgusted at the way they have treated a very good customer, I have always kept my finances in good order.
  • Just got my Blue MBNA card and a separate letter that they are raising my credit limit in November despite only using 30% of my current limit.

I can still login into my MBNA card from both the MBNA and Virgin Money site, so it appears the split has not yet gone live on its portals.
