Sky M&S voucher offer, lies lies and more lies

Hi MSE and sorry that my first thread is a rant, but I did use to be here before, I've lost my login details, BUT I AM ABSOLUTELY FUMING, and kind of needed some moral support.
MY mother who is a pensioner, doesn't get a very good digital signal for her TV where she lives, she is in a blackspot. It was fine with Analog but as soon as they switched over and after an upgraded aerial and 4 or 5 new freeview boxes the conclusion was, it just isn't going to work.
So when we saw and advert online for sky and if you sign up you will get £100 worth of M&S vouchers we thought ideal. and signed her up.
The installation was done on 7 June 2013, and according to the website the voucher would arrive after 45 days of that date.
So they still hadn't arrived by the first 1st of August so we did cut them some slack. So she gave them a call. First 3 calls they put the phone down on her. So I found the complaints dept and told her to tell them she wanted to cancel.
She did that and got through to someone who said they had been emailed to her on my email address. Which they hadn't as I have been checking, Its is also worth pointing out that I work in Data security encryption and recovery..so I have checked properly.
So call 5 and the guy said they will be with her in 5 days. 5 days was up to day.
So call 6 - They wont be sent until 40 days after her first payment and then they put the phone down without giving her their name or anything. Her first payment was on 24/6/2013 which by my reckoning is currently 44 days ago.
So call 7 - phone got put down.
I call which is now call number 8 they wont speak to me, and they put the phone down.
So she is call number 9 to cancel the whole thing and as much as I know it wont make any difference to them. I will be cancelling my TV phone and Broadband subscription to them as well. We don't really watch anything on there, and even though its a going to be a bit of chore to switch, I can't condone the way they are acting and I certainly don't want to give any money to a corporation who treats my family in that way.
So has anyone actually got any voucher on this offer and if you are expecting them, I'm not sure they are coming tbh. Is there anything my mother can do. I've said cancel it and demand your money back as they have duped you in with an offer that isn't valid. But I'm not sure this is correct.
Thanks in advance

If you cancel your contract, you'll be liable to an early termination fee. The Voucher isn't explicitly part of the contract - it's a special offer.
Did you open the account via the official sky website ?
Rather than persisting with the call centre, i'd go straight to head office. Try this number

We got Sky in early June, the voucher was emailed to me by the end of June.0

Bear in mind that, for Sky, sending out a free voucher for £100 is an act somewhat akin to amputating one of its own toes with a bolt-cutter.
There is a long history on here of people not getting their M&S vouchers. Do a search.Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

To be honest when I phoned Sky about my M&S vouchers (£100) it took the adviser a moment to acknowledge the error. She said it would take a couple of weeks for them to arrive or I could have account credited £100. The advisor 'encouraged' this of course.
I agreed as I was only going to pay in 'real' money for my future bills. Best thing was when I signed up I was only due £25 in vouchers anyway

you sure it wasn't an evoucherDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

well I rung up to cancel my sky broadband phone and tv last night at about 9.30 when I got in from work. And the very nice adviser asked me why and I told her...
Her next answer was can you check your email for me now, and she had sent me the voucher.
That took 5-10 mins.
Which brings me back to my pre-amble of an original post. In total that took us 10 calls, and on the last call 5 mins. So what were all the lies and rubbish on the other 9 calls for when a simple push of a button had the job done. That's where I have a problem.
To move on to the point about terminating the contract. If you sign up because of a special offer and that special offer is not received. Is that not fraudulent and therefore you have the right to cancel outside of their cooling off period, because they are not providing what they quoted. Didn't something like this happen with free flights and hoover several years ago ?
I'm not claiming I'm right by the way I'm just asking.
Thanks everyone0 -
Not entirely sure to be honest...
Im looking at a new one for the new house, and it says evoucherDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
I was browsing MSE in March of this year and came across the Sky special half price + £25 M&S Voucher Offer. I was looking for the best Sky deal and this looked about right. I was told on the by MSE site that these deals were limited and and I would have to apply.
Needless to say I was accepted alonge with every other person who applied no doubt. The Man from Sky came and fitted me up with all the mod-cons and away I went - with my excellent value for money package.
I waited for the M&S voucher.....and wiated ....and waited...and waited. We are mid-way though August and I am still waiting !
It seems that even us who were promised just £25 and not £100 are in the same boat. Poor Sky - they must be hard up.
Virgin is looking good for 2014 !
Cheers :beer:0 -
I was promised my £100 M&S when I signed up on 7/6/13, I wasn't a new customer but a returning customer coming back after a year away, the sales manager said that if I signed up to a new contract there and then he would offer me the £100 vouchers, and receive then in 31 days time. After this time had past without receipt of vouchers I phoned them and was told I would get them at end of month, after that had passed I phoned again and was told I would receive them in an email the next day, but still no vouchers, I then filled out an online complaint on the sky website and got a reply saying that this offer was only applicable to new customers, well I new that but this was a offer I had received over the phone from the sales manager as an incentive to come back to sky, lastly I phoned again today only to be told the same, so I requested the recording of the phone conversation I had with the sales manager to prove that I was offered them, they said I needed a court order to obtain this recording and that there was nothing else they could do. Do I really need a court order to obtain a copy of a phone conversation that I was involved in? Fed up of constantly being fobbed off by sky and the underhand tactics they are using to recruit customers, any advice would be welcome. Thx0
