how early is too early for kids to play out?

I am pretty sure that my parents rule was 9am and we weren't allowed to go out after 7pm.0

hurray its the school holidays - no getting up rushing around for the school run.
my kids stay up a bit later and we all have a bit of a lie-in :j
except someone in the street sends their children out to play at 8am and these kids scream, cry, shout etc.
personally I think this is too early and wouldn't allow my children out to cause a nuisance at this time?
am i expecting too much?
When I first read your question I assumed you meant at what age (rather than time) was acceptable. I'm pleased to say that 'playing out' doesn't happen where I live. Children play in their own gardens rather than on the street. I may sound like a grumpy old woman but I like it that way.;)
For lawn mowing/DIY or any other sort of noise I think 9.00 a.m. is Ok but maybe later at weekends.
Doesn't apply to bin men though.0 -
9.00 weekdays and Saturdays, 09.30 SundaysPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

9am for me.
And now my DD's have flown the nest, I stick to 9am as the earliest I hoover (terraced house), or bang around emptying bins etc.
It annoys me when people are making noise too early, so its only fair I try not to annoy other people too early!

9am in school holidays, just as I don't let my puppy play with his squeaky ball in the garden until that time at the earliest. As a teacher, I need my rest in the holidays/weekends (as Im sure we all do) and don't want to hear other people's screaming kids when I'm trying to sleep! Ill have plenty of that come September!First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/14

Not before 9am in my opinion. I get up about 6am but a lot of my neighbours are elderly and retired and quite a few don't get up particularly early.
I think it is rude and inconsiderate to make much noise before 9am. My neighbour is slightly deaf but I still make sure I don't hoover or put the washing machine on before 9.The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
I'd think 8am is fine, but to tell the darlings to keep it down a bit....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

i think the reason i was so annoyed is that the mother just wants the kids out of the way.
last week she sent them out in the rain to call for friends - knowing they would be invited into the homes of others.
How do you know this? And, tbh, most mums probably want a break from their kids at some point in the day, as do the kids from mum. What's wrong with wanting your kids to go out to play?
I don't really get your last point. Are they only allowed to play with other kids if they're outside? If it rains, they have to stay in their own homes? Don't get it."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

I thought old people were always up at stupid o'clock

I wouldn't expect to hear noise before 10am on a weekend. I work hard during the week, I want a lie in on the weekend. I really hate inconsiderate neighbours who let their kids out at 9am to go knock at people's house so early. I don't allow my 14 year old out until 11am on weekends. Seriously annoys me when parents think its ok to open the door and kick the kids out as early as possible to annoy the neighbours. Especially as some of us work early on weekdays!!! Let them out to the garden if you must, but otherwise be considerate of those that actually work and want a lie in.0
