Seller asking for return of misdescribed item after case is closed

Having trouble with an ebay seller and can't decide whether to just ignore them now.

They sent marked dress that was supposed to be in excellent condition, so I contacted them and they said they would refund when they got back from holiday. A few days later they then waffled on about getting my email address and they'd cover return postage, but never gave me address to send it back to, so after hearing nothing for a fortnight or so, I asked for a return address and was ignored. Opened a case and eventually they responded and said they'd refund by the 3rd, which they didn't. Escalated it to customer support yesterday and they did a courtesy refund.

After this I left negative feedback. It was short and to the point - Dress arrived marked, seller unhelpful in resolving.

I then got a feedback revision request saying -

'Hi there ! Would you be so kind as to remove the negative feedback ! As I did honestly try and send the money manually but it was not possible ! As soon as the case was opened I payed instantly . It's the first negative I have had in nearly 10 years of eBay .you are welcome to keep the dress Many thanks'

- which of course isn't true as I got a refund from ebay. I rejected this and got a message asking if I would return the dress so they can see the marks!

They have also left this follow up to my feedback - Very disappointed ! Tried to resolve this but (my username) sent wrong email !

So do I ignore the lot now? Send pics of the dress, follow up the feedback? I'm so annoyed, at the end of the day it was a 99p item and the whole thing could have been avoided had they not ignored me.

    I would just ignore it.
    If I were looking at your feedback I'd look at your overall record. If you only had a problem with one single individual then I wouldn't think much of it.

    Case closed. Sometimes things can be genuine but they had plenty of opportunity to resolve it.
    Just put it down to the hassle of dealing with ebay and factor into what you are prepared to pay (it needs to be worth it).

    To be honest I would just forget about it and move on.
    For 99p it's not worth any more stress - give the dress to charity.
    The follow up feedback you received will soon drop off your first page.

    You went through all of that hassle, bad mouthing, arguing etc over 99p? - You do realise you could have found a whole £1 in many supermarket trolleys that have been abandoned up the far end of the car park. Hardly seems worth it to be honest.

    If you found that at a bootsale, paid 99p, got it home and found it damaged would you have bothered going all the way back the next time to locate the seller and argue the toss? I bet you wouldn't.

    I think the world has gone nuts. Give someone a means to hassle someone else electronically and people start making life hell for others.

    You went through all of that hassle, bad mouthing, arguing etc over 99p? - You do realise you could have found a whole £1 in many supermarket trolleys that have been abandoned up the far end of the car park. Hardly seems worth it to be honest.

    If you found that at a bootsale, paid 99p, got it home and found it damaged would you have bothered going all the way back the next time to locate the seller and argue the toss? I bet you wouldn't.

    Ahh, wondered how long until I was slated. Quite frankly, the principal is the same whether it's a 99p item or a £99 one. And had the seller done the decent thing and not ignored me, as I said none of it would have happened. I sell on ebay too and wouldn't dream of treating someone like that. And what arguing and hassling? they were politely told there was a problem, they didn't handle it and I opened a case. It's the seller who is now harassing me as they don't like the outcome.

    I don't go to boot sales, but if I did, then I have the chance to look at what I'm buying. That's why I read the description a seller writes, it's how you tell whether something is in an acceptable condition - saying something is in excellent condition when it isn't is at best misleading and at worst dishonest. Everyone can make a mistake, but the seller should have handled it better. For the record if they had, they would have had better feedback. Out of hundreds of transactions I've left 3 negs, so no, I don't use this as a means to 'electronically hassle' anyone, I have better things to do with my time.

    99p for the item and possibly a lot more for the P&P.
    Yes, the OP could have forgotten about it but this means that the seller might continue misdescribing their items and other people also ending up with shoddy goods.
    As it is, they have received poor feedback, their DSR's will probably have gone down so maybe they will consider being a bit more honest in future.

    If you sell on eBay too under the same username as you buy with I would block this seller if I were you in case they try to purchase from you to do tit for tat on the feedback.

    No not really. £99 is mega money. 99p you can find almost anywhere on the streets or ringing up a manufacturer of a food product with a complaint and getting free vouchers as reimbursement. It's 99p for gods sake. What did you honestly want the seller to do?

    No, I don't think MY actions were questionable at all, I've just been round these boards long enough to know that there are those who will defend sellers no matter what they do.

    As Shaun has suggested, by the time you add on postage we talking about a bigger sum - but again, yes it is the principle.

    As to what I expected? I expected to probably pay return postage (which would have been far cheaper than I was charged) and have my money refunded and I would have left positive feedback for them handling it properly. Simple really. So no, no hassle about the 'cost of postage and petrol'. You seem to assume an awful lot about me with very little knowledge to back it up. But then that says far more about you than it does me.
