TV aerial broken at wall end

Hi
The TV aerial has snapped off where it plugs into the wall socket, leaving the connector still in the socket. Is it safe for me to unscrew the plate on the wall so that I can force the stuck piece out and plug in a new aerial lead? I assume there is no electric power as such to worry about in doing this? It is a digital aerial fitted on the roof (if that makes any difference).
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Is it not possible to pull the old bits out with out the need to take the plate off the wall?
Either way it is safe to do so.
By the way - it is just an aerial you have, not a "digital" one, as there is not such a specific thing0 -
OK. Thanks for the advice. I will try and get the bits out with pliers first if possible.0

Should be fairly easy to do as the plug merely pushes into the socket so you can just pull out the broken bits0

And yes it's safe to take it off if needed, as long as there's no lightning!0

Which is very very frightening, mama mia! That gum you like is coming back in style.0

There will be a minute amount of electrical current (that's the television signal the aerial is extracting from the ether) so don't be alarmed if you do get a tiny tingle.Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

Sorted it all out this morning quite easily, thanks. Funny someone should mention lightning because the person I was fixing this for had broken it by pulling the lead out whenever there was any threat of lightning, which must have weakened it. I've told him he doesn't need to do that any more!0
