I've had varifocals for about 9 months, I used my old driving glasses for a couple of weeks until I got use to the varifocals and they're fine. I do still have to wear my reading glasses for the computer though but I con cope with that. I did find when I first got my glasses that I was having to drop my chin to see clearly so the optician adjusted the side and nose pieces and now they're brilliant, no more swapping glasses when shopping to see the prices or read instructions.

Dont be afraid to go back to Specsavers if you cannot get used to them - they have a varifocals guarantee

    Guarantee

It can take a short time to get used to varifocal lenses, so at Specsavers you can try a pair for 30 days with no obligation.
If you can't get used to them, you can swap your varifocals for bifocals or two pairs of glasses - one for distance and one for reading - and we'll refund the difference in any price.

They may even allow you to swop to the elite lenses if they believe they will be better for you but that is outside the terms as above taken from their website

I picked up my new Varifocal glasses yesterday. I appreciate it is really really early days. (Can take up to 4 weeks to get used to) My problem is, I cannot see my pc very well.
Reading a book the vision is good, so why can't I see my pc properly. Apparently it can be a problem.
I am using my normal reading glasses. They seem so much clearer than the varifocals.

As for driving, I'll keep my old glasses on for that!:)

Anyone got any advice or thoughts?

I'm new to varifocals to. Got mine a month ago, and like you finding it a struggle. Its reading I'm having the problem with, and also being on computer. When I read I have to sit with my nose in the air and I cant see on the computer either, so have resorted to wearing my old reading glasses. This defeats the purpose of me getting them in the first place, as I got fed up changing my glasses over and over to watch tv, read and go online. I'm not sure what the answer is. I'm trying to persevere but its not getting any easier.

Did yours come with a guarantee money back?

I agree, it does defeat the object, if like me you are using, readers as well. They're going to be expensive, if I just use them for shopping. I am going to call into opticians at weekend to just make sure the prescription is right (The reading part)

With one pair of varifocals I needed to change to half readers for the computer.

Every other pair has been fine for everything. I didn't have any trouble getting used to them. It was do good not having to change does all the time.

I've ad Varifocals for three years now but they did take a while to get used to and I actually went back to the opticians after four weeks for them to check them. There was a slight problem with the way the lens had been 'made' and they sent them for correction and they are fine. You need to persevere and keep going back till they are fine for you
