O/S Daily Tuesday 6th August 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Thanks for the good wishes about my job yesterday. No news at all yet but have put myself forward as a consultation rep within my group. It looks like all jobs are protected until one date then some more until a later date. Redundancy pay, increased notice periods and incentive bonuses are to be paid according to how long people stay. Also at the end of it, they will want to keep some staff but won't currently provide any information on how many etc. Consultation is due to start next week so it's going to be a long process. Will update you when I have some more news.

Need to dash now so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Good Morninng TTFTM and all who follow Hope you get good news re your job.It must be a worrying time for anyone in the job market at the moment
I have another busy day today I have to take three of the DGS to get their haircut and the eldest DGS to Iceland to get him some stuff for the freezer as he is not coming with us on holiday as he is off with his pals to Reading pop festival during our second week.He said he would be happy with a couple of 'ready meals' in the freezer whilst we are away ,but he is also going to my eldests house for dinner several times as well so its just odds and ends really just in case he gets hungry.Ben is a sensible lad and won't go without but if he can 'ping' a meal in minutes it will be easy for him Its really a back-up for him.
Plus I have some banking to do and some odd bits of shopping DD wants me to get as she is working up until Friday late afternoon so won't have time to get to the shops before we go
Eldest DD arrive back from Greece this afternoon so I may pop in to see her as well if I get the chance.
Tonight is pub quiz night so it will be nice to go to that.
Right time for some breakfast and a shower methinks
Cheers chums and <<hugs for those in need >>

    Morning all,

Just popping in before I get ready for work.

Good wishes to all and hugs to anyone in need of one.

It's a bit of a funny week this week. Bf went to camp yesterday but is back today then is off to get his chair welded Wednesday morning before driving back to camp to drop it off and make sure it gets on the van to Belgium! THEN he has to drive back again.
We have Thurs/Fri together and then Friday evening he's off to stay at the airport hotel for the night for his crazy early Saturday morning flight!
I'm hauling my case and a few other bits on the Train to my parents and dad is then driving me to Manchester airport to catch my flight on Sunday morning!

    It's a crazy life :-)

Tea tonight will be , actually I'm not sure I'll check what bf might fancy. I might want pork steak, Mash and veggies with gravy...

Need to get dressed and then get some of the washing up done (mostly cups) before shooting off to work.
Not gyming this week as we have free use of the pool/gym at the hotel so I'm going to Swim at least every other day or try for 30mins every day whilst I'm away :-)

Making an infinity dress on Friday so I made the skirt pattern and got all my measurements last night and will go and buy the Material today. I need about 5 yards so need to work out how many metres that is closest to!

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Bright and sunny herer this morning, everywhere is drying up nicely after the heavy rainfall yesterday evening. Washing on the line. Greenhouse watered.

DH and DS1 up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was pork chops, oven roasted herby new potatoes, veg and gravy. Tonight we will be having sausages, mash and onion gravy.

The hairdresser is coming over tonight so dinner will be a bit later than normal.

Work yesterday morning was another manic Monday.

Take care if you're out in the sun and remember the sun cream x

    Keep safe and well x

    Hi everyone

TTFTM must be a very unsettling time for you.

Today's plans involve a mooch round the shops, finishing off the housework and tidying in the garden, so nothing too exciting.

We'll have sausage casserole for dinner tonight.

DH may have a half day as it's fairly quiet where he works. His work seems very sporadic. There are busy periods and
quiet periods. The last time it was quiet, a couple of years ago, they had to go down to a 4 day week. It suited him quite well as he stayed on the four day week. Work then picked up again, but he thinks it's slowing down again. Not sure what the future holds, but hopefully he can stay employed for a couple more years before he retires!

    Have a good day

Thinking of Hilly and Bemuzzled xx

I met up with lovely Donny and her husband in her absolutely fabulous caravan on Saturday. Oh what have you started - I have now sent off for brochures - a girl can dream.

A bit upset about another thread - I think I am too sensitive :(

Hugs for a lovely day xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,

Beautiful day here again, with just a very slight hint of autumn in the air
I love the changing of the seasons, and there is just a smell or something different this morning.

Dropping dd at work this morning, then I have some office work to do, which will take a couple of hours, then quick tidy round, and make the quiche I did not get round to yesterday, we had a burger in a bun with hm chips and sweetcorn instead and it was very nice.

Will go and see my dad at lunch time, wm is on the go 2 loads to do which will be hung on the line. Managed to knock the fireplace out in our bedroom yesterday, was hard work, but it looks so much better now its gone, will try and do a bit more in there later on.

    Have good days all xx
