I am stuck on what to buy my son for Christmas. He will be 3 next April and, due to us trying for so long to have him, is a bit spoilt. He doesn't have loads of expensive toys or gadgets, no phones or tablets or anything like that. However he does have loads of cars, most of which have been picked up from bootsales.
I will be getting him more cars and diggers for Christmas but was wondering if anyone had any other ideas which I can stick on the Amazon wish list now (memory like a sieve from he was born so everything goes on here...:rotfl:)
I know some people will say not to buy much as he doesn't understand it all yet, but I will not be getting into debt over it, will not be spending on credit cards, so will only be spending what I can afford.
Also, I think I asked this last year too, but what do you put in stockings. I really struggle over this as I don't want to put expensive items in there but don't want to buy too many silly things that will last a day or never be looked at.
Thanks everyone...xx

why dont you start a new family tradition a Xmas Eve Hamper - could be left by one of Santas Elves
New Pjs
toothbrush
sponge
DVD
book
little snack
Little note from Santa - clean your teeth, rudolph likes carrot, Santa likes xxxx
You could extend it to the many theres many people that make pjs, slippers for the whole family, hot choc sachets etc...
--Stocking--
He's still young, not to be in the I want stage, so little things
Selection box
boys toilettries Ben 10, cars
colouring book / sticker book
reading book - you can have a chill out and look together on xmas day
The way i see it, is he's going to have presents from yourselves and family then he could be over whelmed with it all, so a little stocking give you the precious time
Hope that helps (not very good with boys presents).
Sounds like he has got some really good presents, what i would do instead of feeling I must spend the full budget, buy what you need, then put the rest up, as your the ones that are buying the toys throughout the year, and I am sure he would love some treats through the tear, - as with all kids the novelty wears off some of the presents, - your just extending the presents xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I'd go with things like fisher price little people/ lego duplo/ puzzles/ maybe a leapfrog tag junior type reading system if he doesn't already have one. all things you can add to later educational and encourage imaginative play helping to prepare them for preschool.
for stockings nothing costs over £1
toothbrush/paste
socks(character themed)
fruit/ choc coins /mini bottle of drink
books/ stickers /colouring sets
a couple of hotwheels sized cars
shower gel/flannel (character themed)
toy animals
mini cuddly toy
maybe a dvd ideal for putting on keeping them occupied for 1/2 hr or so while you get readythis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -
Me and the hubby was discussing this very thing last night! My youngest will be 3 in may. And we're pretty much at a loss as to what to get him!
He is toy story mad, but he plays with ds1's old toy story stuff, so glad we saved it all!
There is a chad valley "iPad" which is only a tenner or in the 2for £15 deal. He's always wanting to go on mine, so I think he'll love this
And that is laterally all we can think of! 1present lol!
Ds1 is getting a bike and dd is getting a flicker scooter, but no idea what to get for his main presentMummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -
As a mother of 3 sons i would wholeheartedly recommend getting him his first wooden train set probably with some thomas trains and a dvd, book of thomas the tank engine.
Also if anyone asks what they can get ask them to get someting to build up his train set.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -

We had looked at the Innotab but it was for ages 4-8 so decided to leave it till next year, but will look at the Leapfrog range. Thanks for the stocking ideas, very helpful...xxcarlamarie wrote: »Me and the hubby was discussing this very thing last night! My youngest will be 3 in may. I may go and look at the Chad Valley ipad. He does have two or three very babyish laptops which he has no interest in, but loves playing with our adult laptops, just pushing buttons though not actually playing anything...xxshop-to-drop wrote: »As a mother of 3 sons i would wholeheartedly recommend getting him his first wooden train set probably with some thomas trains and a dvd, book of thomas the tank engine.

He has no interest in trains at all. He has a few smaller trains from Thomas, the size of matchbox cars, and doesn't even look at them. Although I know my Mum has my nieces old ELC wooden train set so may get her to get it out and see if he shows any interest in that. Thanks...xx;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -

We have done the Christmas Eve hamper for a few years now, started with just me and hubby...lol. He won't really get presents from other people. My parents and my brother will buy him, and also my aunt and two cousins, but that is it. We don't really speak to very many of hubby's side and he has never even met his other granny so nothing comes from that side. However, great idea about keeping some money aside, as his birthday is in April so he has a long time between April and Christmas again for more age suitable gifts...Thanks...xx;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -

I would love these but I think they might freak my wee one out. He doesn't like things that speak to him...lol;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -
How about a play tent, depending on budget/space you can get small pop up ones to more elaborate teepee/house type things. Would he he like role play or dressing up type things? Maybe you could stick to practical presents - at 2.5 it's more about the boxes and wrapping paper that the things inside!0

He has an outdoor plastic playhouse we got for his birthday (bargain, reduced way down to £39.99 in Toys R Us). He doesn't speak much yet (he has 10 clear words and the health visitor is going to do a review with us in September), so doesn't really like role play or dressing up yet, apart from new shoes, he loves shoes...lol
I may get a huge box and fill with balloons. Think it was on here that I read that...lol;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0
