I bought a bar of Lindt Creation Luscious Caramel about a week ago and I got three quarters of the way through it before I noticed that its best before date is 05/2013. Over two months ago.
What should I expect from Asda when I take it back? Just a refund?

Do you have the receipt for it?
Can you prove it was the chocolate bar you bought there?
Are there further bars still on the shelf?
think you will just get a refund or replacement.0

I do have the receipt. I can't specifically prove that it was the chocolate bar though, I suppose.Grateful to finally be debt free!0

You will definitely get a refund, due to what has happened they may offer refund and replace, or a voucher as a sorry.0

Actually, I did genuinely think 'oh, this isn't as nice as it normally is' when I first ate some, but I kept going back for more anyway! I mean, I know it's not going to kill me, but can they get into trouble for this kind of thing?Grateful to finally be debt free!0

I should push for a million pounds "compo" !!
 From the NHS website:
"Best before" dates appear on a wide range of frozen, dried, tinned and other foods.
"Best before" dates are about quality, not safety. When the date is passed, it doesn't mean that the food will be harmful, but it might begin to lose its flavour and texture.
Every year in the UK we throw away 7.2m tonnes of food and drink, most of which could have been eaten. So think carefully before throwing away food past its "best before" date.
 Stop being so greedy !!!0

No, they can sell stuff past it's best before date if they want to, there is no law to stop them. Most, if not all, supermarkets don't usually sell stuff past it's best before date, but this is only because most customers think the item will turn to poison at midnight on that date.
The best before date is just the minimum time the manufacturer thinks the product will be at it' best. After that date it MIGHT not be at it's best, but that doesn't mean it will be bad for you.
If you return it to the store you will probably get a refund/replacement and maybe a voucher. But these will be a goodwill gesture to keep you happy, and keep you shopping in the store.0

OK then... just to clarify... you have no rights other than to continue to eat the bar of chocolate.
