Hi,
Yesterday I placed an order on a website called "rattan garden furniture 4 u". The order was placed, admittedly, in haste. After the payment had gone through I went to my email to check that a confirmation had come through but after a few minutes there was nothing. I then went back to the website and had a horrible cold feeling as I started to notice all sorts of things that first time round I just hadn't spotted, in the excitement of ordering! There was no phone number or email just an address in canary wharf in London. I may be wrong but it just didn't feel right. I googled the name to see what I could find, which was hardly anything apart from a number listed on a directory website against the name. I rang it but no answer. So I rang straight away to cancel my credit card.
Has anyone had anything to do with this site? I'm still hoping its ok and the order turns up. Really though, it's not looking good! If any of you have a spare second to take a look and see what you think, that would be great. I'm usually so careful but I got carried away with the fact that this site was the only one out of about 10 others that had this item in stock! Too good to be true??

Did you inform your bank about the transaction ?
Did you see what's on the customer service page of the site ?
Not a site I would use with no phone number.0 -
Yes told the bank but they can't cancel the transaction. It hadn't shown up on my account as of this afternoon. I cancelled the credit card though just in case. If I'd noticed no phone number I wouldn't have used them! I was obviously silly and careless! Lesson learnt for future!0

Oh, also when looking afterwards most of the site is written in a different language! How embarrassed am I to be even admitting this!!0

Give them a chance. I winced at the sight of the Customer Service page too but it may be very new setup thats only just gone live although incomplete.
If there is no contact or no goods after a reasonable length of time and as long as it was a credit card and the sum was over £ 100 you are protected. Insist on a chargeback using the magic words Section 75 - as long as it was a credit card. The bank won't like it but they have to comply with your request - they can't do it on a debit card BTW.
Chargeback.
After that is done then it will be off to Trading Standards as well for a little chat I expect.

No its standard filler text used for websites during their creation. Looks like latin actually but its gobbdegook - as I said standard filler. Allows them to check and test the layout whilst actual text is being finalised before it goes live.Oh, also when looking afterwards most of the site is written in a different language!
Yes - can see and understand that. How embarrassed am I to be even admitting this!!
Cheers
Edit: You can order an oval Dallas Bench Set on there for precisely £0.00 - yes thats what it says. I wonder if the site's gone live by mistake and they don't know it yet? Yes I might be being generous I know. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits. - Einstein0 -

Geek to the rescue. Looks like you're fairly safe regardless of the ipsum filler and the odd pricin!0

Also traces back to this marketing company whose address is the same as the sites address:

Webfusion Ltd are simply a hosting company. They own 123Reg. You'll find the same details listed for a number of domains.
That doesn't really have anything to do with it. The important factor is the registrant's details which happen to belong to the MD of a company called 5D Marketing at the address which matches the address under the "contact us" section of the furniture website.0
