French petrol stations ?

Options
We are going to Normandy (Montreuil-Sur-Mer) for a week and will be driving from the ferry at Calais.Does anybody know if there are plenty of petrol stations in this area ?
We will be filling up near Dover and although its only a 30 odd mile drive to our holiday destination we will obviousley need petrol for the week.

Thanks :money:

A bit like in this country, I'd avoid service stations on the autoroutes. Use supermarkets, invariably cheaper. Just like here they have large ones on the outskirts of most towns.

Although the majority of french peasants get around by horse and cart, the service station network is gradually evolving and expanding into the dark mists of the french countryside.

There is word that a magical new device called the internet has created a "page" that lists the price of fuel in France, although that secret cannot be revealed, ok its

The word "plenty" is pretty imprecise by the way..

Try looking up the locations of supermarkets near calais- eg leclerc , auchan, Carrefour . Learn how to set coordinates into your sat nav before you go as the french seem to use these.

I thought Montreuil-Sur-Mer was in Nord Pas De Calais as opposed to Normandy?

Good choice of a place though, I have enjoyed visiting in the past :) Recommend a walk around the Ramparts.

Ok, doesn't answer your question, but just make sure you are aware of what petrol is called in France. ;) x

The others have given good advice.

Get a tom tom sat nav as they will stop you taking any wrong turnings near toll areas. The tom tom will list all garages on route.Fill up with fuel at Calais instead.

Don't all sat navs do that? We have three different varieties, none of them TomTom, and they all do it.

Last time I tried to get my Tom Tom to take me to the nearest petrol station, it took me to a residential street with no petrol stations in sight (the houses looked at least 80 years old so it wasn't a recent change).

I used to drive to spain every week through france and used a tomtom which found everything correctly especially through france as I could only use shell garages due to my fuel card.
When you get off the boat at Calais you will see a garage just off the main highway.

As they would have filled up close to Dover i dont think they will get much more petrol in the tank in calais...........anyway french petrol contains too much garlic for me.
