Aviva and Direct Line were the cheapest for me (other than some on an aggregator that I'd never heard of).
I went with Direct Line because Aviva had a £200 additional excess if not using one of their approved repairers.0 -
Best of luck with Norwich Union or whatever they're called these days in the event of a non fault claim if they happen to insure the other party too...wait till your next renewal arrives and you'll see why.
Never as long as i live would i deal with that bunch again.
Found Co-op and NFU absolutely straight and fair to deal with.0 -
I see to be alone in never having a decent quote off Aviva.
For Motor they have only once given an OK quote which was 50% more than my current insurer but was still the third cheapest quote I received and was very close to the 2nd cheapest one. For some reason my current insurers are just massively cheaper than anyone else which does make me a little twitchy0 -
Another vote for NFU, however you cannot be seen to be living anywhere too urban...0

Having said that I'm sure I've read of people in cities notorious for high premiums getting good quotes off them...weird.
I believe they're exceptionally cheap if you are an actual farmer and have other policies with them. An old friend who was a farmers son insured his first car at 17 with them for £300 I think it was. This was only 4 years ago or so.
Last time I checked they would only insure under 25s if your family had other policies with them.0 -
Back in March when I was looking at a new policy both Aviva and John Lewis weren't on the comparison sites, and were very competitive.
JL were within £5 of Aviva's quote (but their options, e.g.. EU-wide roadside cover, were much cheaper). Plus 10% Quidco cashback paid within 40 days. :T"Retail is for suckers"
