Double check who the underwriter of the warranty was as you are saying it was the retailer.
Whilst DSG has spent millions on getting arround insurance law and thus their warranty isnt deemed insurance the majority of retailers sell/ give an extended warranty backed by an insurer not themselves and so even if the retailer goes bust the policy remains in force with the insurer.0
