***Changes to fees for private sellers***

I've used a private account for selling but always find I get better prices using my business account. I have lots of regular customers on my business account and subscribers, so I usually get 15-20% more by using it. If I can get an extra fiver that is a bit better than saving 15p.
Actually, that is the only good thing that gives me comfort, I find the same. I have actually moved some private items across to my business account as I can sell on my business account but struggle much more with my private items.
I can usually outsell my competitors as well, even the ones I noted above at random show a lot of unsold items, I rarely get unsolds on my business account . However, I rarely now buy from private sellers, I can't be bothered with the hassle- and although I don't recall the last time I returned anything the fact that I can with a business makes me feel more secure.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No.1: Isn't the first one an 'official' business seller?Just doing a quick search in categories I use a lot turns these up- these are just chosen randomly. Yes they might just have very cluttered houses stuffed with collectable items but it all seems too sleek

No.2: I can see what you mean with the second seller - they have a lot of stuff and have been selling lots of it for years. Also, it's not a wide range: it's all one theme: Pottery, China and Glass - surely this has all the hallmarks of a business seller?
No.3: The third one doesn't feel like a business seller to me: They have 15 items on sale and have 336 selling feedbacks over about 7.5 years, which is about 45 per year.
OK, not everyone leaves sellers feedback, but if it was 52 sales a year, that's only the equivalent to selling one item per week over 7-8 years.
They also have 227 buyer feedbacks as well, so they are on average buying 2 things for every 3 they sell. What makes you suspect they are a business seller? [Am I missing something here?]
[The thing I least like about their selling is they are using private auctions to hide the bidder IDs!

Weird. So I will have to increase my postage fee to more than what it costs to cover the additional e bay fee? And then no doubt get my postage stars dinked?
I think e bay is killing itself tbh. I have got a few more private listings to go and after that I'm never going to use it again.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Knock out 10,000 private sellers and they still earn more from Argos and there are plenty more big sellers joining them. Unfortunately for some Ebay have always been nonchalant about alienating a few sellers to move forward. They don't always get it right but it doesn't look too bad this time around. They do finally seem to have given a fair bit to most of the small business sellers.

I'm still considering scaling back my Ebay sales but the changes coming in September have made that less likely..0 -
I have been thinking about this. Do you think they are trying to increase the volume of items on ebay through the basic shop option and then stop or reduce the amount of free listings weekends.

Though they have been frequent for some time, I've always thought of Free Listing Weekends as a temporary fixture, most likely designed to prevent eBid's free listings drawing thousands of private sellers (and buyers) away from eBay.aprilshower wrote: »I have been thinking about this. Sooner or later they will disappear, so it's worth utilising them whilst the opportunity is there.

But did you not know that you were already paying paypal fees on the postage you set?Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0 -
Business and/or private, ebay will now be charging you 10% on your posting and packaging fees. Its going to be bad enough with the UK domestic rates but if someone from Australia buys your item and it weighs over 1kg for example, that will be an extra £1.32 out of your profits - of course you can pass that on to the buyer but it will make your item less attractive. And then of course, you have to add an extra 10% of the £1.32 etc.
I don't mind paying the final valuation fees as they have provided the service for me to list on, but I do resent paying fees on the p&p as they have nothing to do with that side of it.
I'm not even sure if what they intend to do is legal!!!0 -
its just crazy when magazine can cost up to £7 to send to Australia that would mean charging the buyer at least another 70p (plus 7p for that 10% so 77p) otherwise if you sell it for 99p with all charges taken into account u you make less than 20p whats the point its so unfair on both buyers (mainly out of the eu) and sellers
spent an hour on live chat the other day trying to complain just got passed about and told i should just sell my items at a higher price just to cover it, i cant be bothered with it all anymore0
