I hate the phrase "job lot"

Is it just me, or does anyone else dislike the word "job lot" in an auction title or description?!
I have no idea why, but it just comes across as tacky and/or disorganised or someone who can't be bothered to sort out what they're selling. It makes me feel like I'm going to end up with utter rubbish and puts me off bidding, although when I look through photos, that isn't always the case.

Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Every other auction has this. You do often get more money for a load of junk if you list it as a job lot though - people think it's some kind of wholesale bargain, when it's actually one or two good items mixed with a load of junk.0

I've been dealing in 'real' job lots most of my adult life. The ones that are described as such on Ebay should be prosecuted under trades descriptions. You could probably put a hundred lots together and still not get a job lot..0

I watched a disaster of a job lot earlier this year ..the story unfolded on one of the selling pages on Facebook. Seller was selling a job lot of stuff suitable for a car boot, quite a lot of it and very mixed, some clothes some cosmetics, books, toys household items etc.starting bid 99p and spamming every site she could find.
They were refusing offers on Facebook even though there were some at the £25-£30 telling people they were 'having a laugh' as she has over 40 watchers on eBay and in her auction terms she had said she would take £100 for an early sale. She actually became rather rude as people began to tease a bit as they warned her it might go for 99p.
I watched to the end where lot sold at 99p and a few days later she got a neg 'seller wouldn't sell, apparently all lost' (or something like that. )
It was listed again in eBay At £100 and every now and then she relists on Facebook dropping the price a little each time. I think she's down to £20 now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Am I looking in the wrong place? Are there some 'big' facebook selling pages that I haven't managed to find?"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

I think it can depend on area.
Off hand, I thinki am now registered in about 14 selling sites ranging from as few as 200 users up to 2000+. Each has their own rules , what can be sold, format of sales how often items can be bumped etc. there are a lot more locally as well, but some have irritated me and I've left, some are full of dodgy knock off goods and I don't want to be associated with them and some are very specialised so I don't join them.
It isn't much more than users selling individual items though and maybe linking to their selling sites, I don't list the same things on there that I have on eBay but it is useful for larger items I don't want to post.
Lots of time wasters though, ask for something, agree a time to collect and then you never hear from them again.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The descriptions joblot and bundle annoy me, but not for that reason. Simply because one or two items are not a joblot or bundle.
I often buy video games and there's so many that say joblot when there's only two games or, even worse, 2 games in 1.
Then under the wholesale and joblot category you find loads of single items listed.0 -
Maybe people think it's a good idea to use the term, as they think people search for 'job lots'Early retired - 18th December 2014

Ahhhh. I guess there are probably as many people who search for it as those who avoid it!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

On the matter of descriptions, what does "brand spanking new" mean?0

Like when they're selling a cheap vacuum and put "like a Dyson" or whatever to grab everyone searching for Dysons. I am also annoyed by "job lot" and "bundle" when it's shorts and a t shirt, that's not a job lot, at best is an outfit."There is no substitute for time."
