Fed up with Vodafone : O2 or TMobile?

Since the 18/7, Vodafone are trying to find why I cannot register my new phone. I keep being asked to do the same thing over and over again, to no avail.
Every time I try to register it ends up with a partial registration which prevents me to use my account. I tried everything, no luck.
Today I tried to top up with my other phone (which seems not to have had that many problems) by dialling 2345, the service is unavailable. That is after inputting the details of my debit card, which was registered with my account. That happened with my first (old) phone account as well, the system simply refuses to acknowledge my debit card, but accept my credit card without problem.
I am sure there is nothing wrong with my debit card, I can do a normal top up online for my new phone and my other phone without problems.
So I have 3 phones, one registered years ago, been topping up with debit card without problems until now, another seem to start having problems, newest impossible to register.
Vodafone is trying to find out what's wrong, but it's taking ages.

I am looking more and more at moving my accounts over to another company, I am a bit fed up with it all.

Which of O2 or TMobile is better for Pay As You Go(Ease of registration, coverage, internet ease of use, etc...) and, after which period of time of inactivity do they cancel your account?

Giffgaff running on O2, easy set up, easy to operate, good rates both national and international.

They seem to have improved the network since I last tried it and been pleasantly surprised by coverage. Maybe having a phone compatible with 3G900mhz makes a difference.

I got the feeling that vodafone is passing my problem to different people, and they can't be bothered to read the previous emails. They keep asking me questions that they wouldn't be asking if they had red the previous emails. I keep repeating the same thing over and over again.
I had a look at giffgaff before, but what did put me off is that, someone on the giffgaff website stated that giffgaff was for people who knew more about mobile phones and resolving their own problems, and that if you were someone who needed more help to resolve problems giff gaff wasn't for you. So I thought if they had problems on their system. they will blame people for not knowing enough.
Saying that, vodafone was fine up to now, now I can't find one who can solve my problem.
