    yes.

i think i would inform them in writing, perhaps even recorded delivery so that you can 'prove' that you informed them.

but i would probably also angle for a benefit as a result of the sticking:A

Nope, they can't as the house has been unoccupied for the last six months as you have been working abroad.

The OP hasn't suggested that this is the case, are you in receipt of information that's not been posted?

Court :rotfl: ........... OP has informed the utility supplier and they said they would send an engineer. It is unreasonable to expect him to do more

Read my post again, I was replying to 6022tivo, not the OP!
  • Thanks for all your comments, I know the posting is in the wrong place I must have been on that page when I posted it and did not know how to change it.

There have been changes in my house since the meter stopped working, I had a new kitchen with more economical appliances, my son move to Australia last June and my daughter moved out six weeks ago so my electricity cost should have come down. My concern is if they estimate my usage on historical data it will probably be too high. Also, so far we have had the best summer since 2006 which makes a big difference to my electricity as I think most of the usage is the tumble dryer.

That would explain why the engineer hasn't been able to gain access to replace the meter ;)

I had a Yorkshire water meter man round yesterday to tell me my new meter that was fitted 6 months ago to allow them to read it from outside the house is going backwards!! I won't be paying them any figure based on my previous usage because I haven't had a wash or shower in 6 months.. No wonder they wanted to read my meter from the outside.

Sending an engineer to sort it in the next 6 weeks.

OP is quite clearly saving a lot on his electric bill. For now at least.
