Anyone using Atlantic?

I too have had the loyalty tarrif with atlantic for a number of years. I've never had any problems with them, online account handling is great, and bills manageable (currently 25pcm electric and 51pcm gas). I too had the letter about my tarrif being removed.
So I've had a look round and the top three cheapest (on the MSE energy club thingy) have awful reviews. I'm not sure I want the hassle for the sake of £100pa.
I (very easily) got my kwh for the last year from my paperless bill so should be an accurate saving. But, I think on reflection, I'll stay where I am unless anything untoward happens with my DD...Bossymoo

I have been with Atlantic for years ,very happy with them, excellent service free phone calls and lovely people to deal with.
However, I was a little disconcerted about the discounts finishing, until I contacted them.
They cannot give the annual refund of a months payment on gas and electric, but they are giving it on the standing charge if you pay by DD...£40.00 per fuel on £100 per fuel, pro-rata if you don't pay that much , paperless billing £6.00 per fuel. You live..You learn.:)0 -

I have also been with them for several years and liked the month discount. I was told yesterday that I should go for their 1 year fix before nov 15. As my meter readings have just been taken, I am wait ting for the bills before I decide0 -
I have just had my letter from Atlantic too. Also concerned about the rebates ending - that was my main reason for staying put although I have also found them pretty good to deal with (except you used to find out about price rises after they had come into effect but better lately)
Not sure what to do now. I have used 3 sites today to see what my best deal would be but a bit concerned about their reputations - edf and npower have come out on top for me. Like the sound of the edf fix til 2017 but can't seem to get a quote - thought maybe it's for existing customers only??
npower is slightly cheaper for me but not much in it. Just don't want loads of hassle to switch. Last time I went from BG to Atlantic and it was easy.
The letter also says we'll still get a rebate but I don't get it totally. It says 6 weeks after the rise rise (15/11) but presumably if I switch before then I won't get it. I was hanging on until my next rebate (Dec) then going to switch but this has thrown a spanner in! Not sure what to do now!0 -
Good to know about this. Haven't heard from Atlantic about rebates ending or anything.
I did a quick check over the weekend. I switched my parents to Atlantic about 10 years ago or more.
Thought that the tariff would be uncompetitive by now and so looked into it last weekend.
Did a price comparison and found them about £100 more expensive. However, taking into account the rebate, it's neither here nor there.
They're pretty good with accurate bills by making sure meters are checked twice a year exactly 6 months apart (my parents is April and October). Anything over and they refund back into your account. The rebate is 1 month of your direct debit amount, so it's really more than a month if they end up rebating back into your account.
I'll need to watch out for any changes. Due a rebate next month sometime I think.0 -

I am finding it so hard to compare as I'm not sure the comparison sites are taking this discount into account.
So staying with Atlantic on the new rates, my standard charge drops quite a bit down to £54 a year after the £40 and £6 discount.
The gas price goes up to 4.02 + vat per unit.
Npower showing a saving of £200 a year however their standing charge is 3 times as much as Atlantic!!
So confusing!!!!!0 -
Me too! I spent about 2 hours yesterday and was none the wiser by the end of it.
Decided to ring Atlantic about my letter to try to clarify a few points. Took 26mins to get through then spoke to someone at SSE who wasn't familiar with the letter I was sent and couldn't see it on his screen so I had to read bits to him!
He clarified that the rebate will in effect continue as they can take it off the standing charge (just not the fuel units) so like tillycat said above, that takes the SC down to £54. I will just be on the Standard tariff not the OLNSC one.
He also mentioned to me about their 1y and 2y fix deals. He said that I would then stay on the current unit cost - i.e. it wouldn't go up on 15/11 and would stay at that rate for up to 2 years. I said that sounds too good to be true!
He has emailed me a link with more details - said I can switch online if I want to. Why would anyone NOT want to though? There must be more too it than that?
Anyone else rung up and been told something similar, or for that matter a different story altogther!?0 -
I can't find any info about fixed rate deals on their site!!0

I spoke to them on Saturday and they were also pushing the 1 or 2 year fixed version to avoid the increases before Nov 15th. He said that it was better than the discount on the standing charge. I looked back at my last bills from April which already seem to say that my tariff then was a Standard one. i was told that i would not get the rebate if i switched to the fixed rate option.0 -
That's interesting! I am just chatting to someone online now to clarify.
She said I would get the £46 pf reabte. She gave me a new link but basically you can fix at the current rates for 1 year or the new rates for 2 years.
Might need to do some estimating to see which is best although my gut feeling is 2 years.0
