Is it that hard to dismiss an employee?

yes. Not to pay notice would be a disgraceful practice.
I wouldn't call it disgraceful - staff get regular reviews about what they are doing wrong and right but if staff that can't do simple tasks, I don't see how it's right to pay them.
We are a small company and bad work practices like not following simple procedures, cost us time and money.0 -

So what does it say about termination of contract?
I know in mine it mentions warnings and gross misconduct, don't recall anything about being paid my notice.
I will have to read mine although I've been in the company for 6 years now - some of the new staff have only been for 3 months and have been given revised contracts.0 -
lack of performance can be as much down to lack of decent HR practice, decent induction (even decent recruitment) and training.
Not all down to the employee. When you are in business you need to play by the rules. (and be decent to the person, that for some reason you thought was good enough to hire)0 -

So if you got made redundant as on Monday you are saying you would be happy to leave with pay up to the last day you worked as the contract you have says nothing about notice or pay if sacked or made redundant? We’ve had to remove your signature. Notice can be paid or worked but you are saying they were paid off so that we are to assume they were paid off not to carry on working therefore must have been paid for the notice period instead

It's amazing at the amount of people that can't perform - some things are down to individuals like being late everyday, not being capable of signing off their name or even putting the dates down correctly.
A lot of people seem good enough to hire - it's after the 2-3 month period when a job is just a job for them that they stop to care and try to show that they want to learn and improve.
Well just wanted to know what those rules are and looks like my boss is following them correctly.
Many thanks.0 -

Not is they are being 'paid off'! There is no need to pay anyone off in the case you have described only paid what they are owed.

Not made redundant but dismissed for not performing to requirements set.
Staff get monthly reviews so it's not like, I'd go into work tomorrow and be called in and told to leave and not see it coming.0
